ESD Pro
ESD Pro is a hand-held indicator of ESD events that shows the relative
strength of each ESD event and counts the number of ESD events above
the set threshold. ESD events, or electrostatic discharges, can damage
sensitive electronic components. The ultimate goal of ESD protection
such as grounding, wrist straps, ionizers and static dissipative mats is to
prevent ESD events, or at least decrease their strength and frequency of
occurrence. The only way to verify that your ESD protection works is by
knowing whether you have ESD events in your environment, how strong
they are and how many of them occur. Thus, ESD Pro serves as your
ultimate measure of effectiveness of your ESD protection.
ESD Pro is capable of rejecting most non-ESD related EMI
(electromagnetic interference) events. This methodology allows
assessment of the ESD environment in places where EMI events
resulting from stepper motors, solenoids, relays, etc. occur.

EMI/ESD Diagnostics Kit
EMI can cause serious problems for sensitive equipment and processes,
such as equipment malfunction, latch-ups and software-related errors.
Even very weak ESD events can create disaster for manufacturers of
sensitive components such as disk drives, semiconductors, or flat panel
displays. Identification of these EMI sources is possible with a series of
instruments from 3M.
The 3M EMI/ESD Diagnostics Kit will help you perform waveform and
spectral analysis of electro magnetic interference and of emission
from electrostatic discharges. The kit includes a set of miniature active
broadband antennae for radiated and conducted emission, an interface
module and a set of RF cables. Simply connect the output of an active
antenna to your high-speed oscilloscope and observe or measure ESD
events as they occur. For complete EMI analysis, use the antenna with
your spectrum analyzer to capture the spectral content of emission.
Active miniature antenna work in a broad frequency range, offer high
sensitivity and are able to measure radiated and conducted emission in
various environments.
Features
• Flat frequency response over a very broad range provides precise signals.
• Miniature antenna allows for use in tight spaces.
• Built-in preamp virtually eliminates the need for additional amplification.
Antenna included in the EMI/ESD Diagnostics Kit provides measurements
of both radiated (via air) and conducted (via cables) emission.

Interface Module
The interface module contains everything you need to connect your
miniature active antennae to an oscilloscope or to a spectrum analyzer.
3M Interface Module CTA225 works with all our active antennae,
providing them with power via the same RF coax cable used for signal
by utilizing a special phantom supply circuit.
CTA225 has two channels and allows any two antennae to be used
simultaneously. CTA225 contains a rechargeable battery that will provide
hours of operation without the need for an external power supply and with
full isolation from noisy power lines. A universal supply charger is included.
