Wrist Strap Monitor and Single Wire Constant Monitors
Single Wire Continuous Monitors
Single wire continuous monitors offer the most cost-effective means
for continuously testing the connection integrity of the entire ground
loop including the person, the wrist band and the coil cord. By using
new impedance sensing technology, adjustments and false alarms
are virtually eliminated. This system is fully automatic and activates
when a wrist strap is plugged into the unit. It provides a green light
for safe condition and a red light and tone for unsafe condition. Units
are powered and grounded by an AC adapter. Compatible with most
standard wrist straps.
Continuous monitors reduce production costs by virtually eliminating the
time spent testing wrist straps. Further savings may be realized by reduced
ESD damage from broken wrist straps. Continuous monitors indicate a
failed wrist strap when the wrist strap breaks. A broken wrist strap that
goes undetected may expose products to ESD over an entire shift.

Ground Monitors
3M Ground Master Equipment Ground Monitors are designed to provide
continuous monitoring of proper ground connections of up to eight tools
and up to 16 tools in tandem with another Ground Master monitor. The
monitor shows which individual ground connection is being monitored
and its status. Ground Master also monitors EMI on each ground, to
assist in diagnostics of lockups and malfunctions.
Each ground connection has its own easily replaceable fuse to prevent
dangerous voltages from incorrect wiring propagating to other equipment.
Ground Master provides intelligent information to a facility monitoring
system with detailed status on each ground connection. 3M
Ground
Master RT provides relay closure and a logic signal to the tool so that
it can be shut down in case of ground failure. Contact 3M for the best
model for your applications.

Ground Monitors for Tools
3M Ground Man Monitors allow users to continuously monitor up to
three connection points on tools. The monitors indicate whether each
individual ground connection being monitored is within specification
or has failed. Ideal applications include SMT pick-and-place tools, IC
handlers, wire bonders, die attach and other tools.
Ground impedance alarm levels can be set by the user to satisfy a broad
range of requirements and compliance with standards such as ANSI
6.1 and ANSI/ESDA S20.20. Adding additional reliability, the host tool is
provided a logic level signal to shut the tool down in case of ground failure.
Miniature and unobtrusive, the Ground Man Monitors are easy to install
and easy to connect.
Use 3M Ground Man Plus Monitor CTC334 to monitor all important
ground connections in the tool and an operator. This monitor adds wrist
strap monitoring to allow only properly grounded operators to work with
the sensitive devices.
