Benchtop Air Ionizers

The use of ionized air in electronics work environments will remove the

build-up of potentially damaging static charges. Air ionizers are primarily

used to control static charge on nonconductive materials. The 3M

™

Benchtop Air Ionizer 963 Series blanket the benchtop with ionized air to

help prevent static from damaging sensitive electronics.

Mini Air Ionizer

The 3M Mini Air Ionizer 960 is a small and versatile blower available for

equipment or local area ionization. Its small size makes it ideal for use

in those situations where space is at a minimum. Possible applications

include in or around electronic product equipment, inside OEM

equipment, or on ESD workstations.

The Mini Air Ionizer 960 is designed to generate a well-balanced flow of

ionized air particles, which helps neutralize stray electrostatic buildup

on a surface. Charges are dissipated in seconds and the possibility of a

damaging electrostatic discharge (ESD) event is minimized. The ionizer

also maintains a reasonably balanced flow (± 20 V) of ionized air.

The unit runs off of low-voltage 24 VAC power, which can be supplied

by the 3M

™

Wall Transformer 960X (sold separately). Included with the

ionizer are a mounting bracket and a 3 ft. (0.9 m) telephone cable (with

modular plugs) to connect the ionizer to the Wall Transformer 960X.

Equilibrion Ionization Controllers

and Monitors

3M offers the Equilibrion family of ionization controllers and monitors.

Equilibrion CTC037 is a breakthrough patented ionizer controller that is

designed to be completely immune to influence of nearby static charges

in ionizer balance. Equilibrion brings the balance of controllable ionizers

to zero and keeps it at zero, even as ionizer tips wear out or build

up dirt — dramatically increasing the time between required ionizer

maintenance and thus lowering the cost of ionizer ownership. Other

Equilibrion models provide monitoring of ionizer bars and ionizer blowers

that cannot be controlled.

Equilibrion provides monitoring of ionization decay — the most

fundamental property of an ionized environment. Charge decay at places

where sensitive components are handled can exceed acceptable levels

due to dirty ionizer points, air flow blockage, or a poorly positioned

ionizer. With Equilibrion, automatic continuous decay monitoring

provides an alarm when decay becomes unacceptable, improving ESD

safety in your environment.
