3.2.7.5 Maximum length of Machine and Line identifiers on the
FCM and ACM
The ALE file specification document does not specify a maximum string length
for these identifiers. Note however that for the supported Assembléon
machines currently the following maximum string lengths apply:
FCM line identifiers: max. 12 characters for FCMs with version 2 Action
Spec.
FCM line identifiers max. 20 characters for FCMs with version 3 Action
Spec.
FCM machine identifiers max. 20 characters.
ACM line identifiers max. 20 characters.
NOTE: An automatic truncation of the identifiers will take place when they exceed
the specified maximum length.
3.2.7.6 No warning message when using fixed setup with FCM
feeder bar optimization
Description: When the Bank Attribute “FeederBarType” in the ALE file is
not specified, and a fixed setup (.con file) is used, the .con file will not be
used by the optimizer. Currently no warning message is generated to
inform you on this.
Advice: When using.con files, always specify the Bank Attribute “Feeder-
BarType” in the ALE file.
3.2.8 FCM/Multiflex
PPS-Pro distinguishes three FCM models:
1. Classic (FC SW 5.2 and previous)
2. Multiflex (FC SW 6.x)
3. Multiflex Extended (FC SW 6.x plus memory extension board on all CLM
heads)
The following guidelines must be considered because of the new Multiflex
models.
A work cell in a line can only be a Multiflex cell (full support of Multiflex
functionality such as bad mark grouping and fiducial arrangements) if all
FCMs in the line are a Multiflex.
For a combination of FCM I and FCM Multiflex in one cell, the full Multiflex
functionality will not be supported.

Guidelines for using PPS-Pro
For a combination of FCM II, FCM Classic and FCM Multiflex in one cell, the
full Multiflex functionality will not be supported.
A work cell in a line can only be a Multiflex Extended cell (full support of
Multiflex Extended functionality) if all FCMs in the line are a Multiflex
Extended.
The Cad2Cad tool does not support bad mark grouping and fiducial
arrangements.
Adjust the action spec of the FCM Classic into an action spec of the FCM
Multiflex. Following example gives a part of the action spec which can be
added just before the “Board Rotation” part in the action spec.

3.2.8.1 Fiducial arrangement and bad mark groups
Fiducial arrangement and bad mark groups is implemented with the following
restrictions:
The PPS-Pro FCM optimizer will only generate action specifications for a
line containing all extended FCM (extended BVM and CLM) machines or all
non-extended FCM machines. If a combined line is used, the extended FCM
machines are seen as non-extended FCM machines.
The CAD data must contain circuit information (it may not be flattened),
check this as follows: in the MDF file the copies of circuits are only shown
by their Step and Repeat points. Only then fiducial arrangements and bad
mark groups can be created (in group mode). The introduction of the
fiducial arrangements and bad mark groups will not affect the action spec
-
ification generation of the ACM.
A circuit (with a circuit bad mark) may belong to at most ONE bad mark
group. In fiducial arrangement, a circuit should belong to two circuit
fiducial arrangements.
3.2.9 Transport Settings
3.2.9.1 Max. amount of transport steps
Description: It is possible to specify 10 index steps in each project of PPS-
Pro for FCM. All 10 steps become available in the action spec. after optimi
-
zation. However the action spec. format of the FCM can only handle 9
index steps. The FCM generates the following error: "Action Spec error on
transport". FCM MF can only handle 7 index steps
Advice: Do not specify more than 9 tranport steps for FCM. If FCM MF of
FCM ME is used only 7 transport steps can be used.
3.2.9.2 Do not specify “<none>”
Description: Some old transport settings have “<none>” specified as an
index step. However the PowerLine™ PPS-Pro can not handle “<none>”. It
produces an unclear error in the equip.dat file.
Advice: Do not specify “<none>” as a transport step, or remove “<none>”
if it is specified as a transport step.
3.2.9.3 Settings in ALE does not work
Description: In normal circumstances the default index schemes are used.
However if a special index scheme is required it can only be specified in
the PPS Machine Specific settings. Defining transport settings in the ALE
file does not work.
Advice: If a special index scheme is required specify it in the PPS Machine
Specific settings.
