Guidelines for using PPS-Pro
When a tray component is assigned to a GEM machine, the optimizer will
initially fail if the tray is not defined in the ALE and CON file. A CON file is
created where the specific part is defined.
An example (see SCREEN 74 "Gemline Pre-assigning a Tray" on page 126) a of
a *.CON file for a GEM machine where Tray components are defined.
To specify the fixed set-up to be used, the *.con file to be used for the
GemLine machines has to be defined in PPS-Pro.
To do this, the *.con file must be added to the optimize settings of the line.
On the optimize line tab. select settings. From the settings select machines.
In the setup file field click on the “. .. button. Select use existing set-up
and select the set-up file to use.

3.4.6 Multistick components
When you use multisticks, the easiest way to setup the feeder configuration is
to setup these feeders in the PCB Editor Multistick Editor. To do this run the
optimization in manual mode.
Refer to chapter 3.4.14 "Optimize Manually" and refer to the Gemline PPS User
Manual (“Optimize Manually” and “Multi Stick Feeder Assignment”.

3.4.7 Pre-assigning MultiStick feeders and TTF feeder
Description: When a Pre Assignment (CON file) from a previous calculation
is used for feeder-types: Multistick and TTF (Twin Tape Feeder), the RTB or
LineBalancer results in a warning 32 : “Feeder type cannot be matched to
the feeder bank” and the ‘fixed’ component is moved to other surface
mount equipment. In the created CON file the names of the feeders are not
the same. For example TTF_08 becomes S00:TTF_08 to show that the S00
multistick layout should be used for this feeder setup.
Advice: Modify the ALE-file:
1. Make duplicate of TTF, called "S00:TTF_08" and add it to all Gemline
related feederbanks.
2. Make duplicates of Multistick feeders (also WideMultistick and Stick-A,
etc...) with the appropriate prefixes "Sxx:" and add these to the feed
-
erbanks of all Gemline machines.
In GemLine: ITF_FeederTypesOfi.txt file: Add copies of the TTF_08 and all
other multilane feeders with the appropriate "Sxx:" prefixes. Make sure the
copies are added below the original, because the first FeederType name with
the same number will be used to write back to the CON-files.

The PPS-Pro marker definition can be found in the ALE file. The numbers
specified there refers to the marker DB number. These marker database
numbers must be defined in the PCB Editor Marker Data base
(see SCREEN 75
on page 127).
3.4.9 Head/Nozzle pre-assignments
For GemLine Machines the nozzle pre-assignment can be done by optimizing
manually. Refer to
chapter 3.4.14 "Optimize Manually". And edit the PCB
setup by adjusting the head/nozzle.

3.4.10 Optimizing a PCB
During optimization GemLine PPS uses certain Import settings these are
defined in the PPS-Pro Import Settings. Check these settings before you start
