2. Common Precautionary Items
Basic Precautions
z Only a well-trained person should operate the machine.
Do not allow any untrained person to operate the machine.
Mishandling of the machine can cause a serious accident.
z Before operating the machine, please read the instruction manual carefully for correct
operations.
z Please keep the instruction manual in a safe place within reach.
z Follow the instructions in the instruction manual for correct handling of the machine.
z Be sure to fully understand the contents of the safety instructions in the instruction
manual and follow the instructions.
z Please keep the precautionary items labeled on the machine or described in the
instruction manual.
When the precautionary items are ignored, it will result in personal injury or property
damage (damage to the machine).
z Be sure to follow the operational instructions described in the instruction manual.
z Do not modify the machine nor use any parts other than the specified ones. Be sure
not to use the machine with its safety devices detached. Doing otherwise may cause
personal injury.
z Do not perform any operations other than those described in the instruction manual.
Whenever a problem arises, regarding the machine operations, performance, etc.,
please contact the marketing department or sales agency of Hitachi High-
Technologies for the solution.
z Although the precautionary items have been reviewed repeatedly, an incident far
beyond our expectation may occur.
Not only follow the precautionary instructions described in the instruction manual but
also try to handle the machine carefully at your discretion all the time.
Be sure to strictly keep the above-mentioned instructions. Otherwise, not only wrong
operations of the machine but also personal injury will result.

Precautions before Use
Confirm that no covers are disengaged before operating the
machine.
If the machine is used with its cover(s) being detached, a
serious accident may occur.
Be sure to attach them in place.
Make certain that no person or object comes in contact with the
moving mechanisms of the machine. Then, check safety and
power up the machine to start operation.
Do not start the machine unless those working in the immediate
area of the machine are aware of hazards from moving parts.
Do not modify the machine nor use any parts other than the
specified ones. Be sure not to use the machine with its safety
devices detached. Doing otherwise may cause personal injury.
Do not change the settings of OS (Operating System) or install
any applications additionally.
Remove the selection key of the [OPERATION] switch before
operating the machine automatically.
When the [OPERATION/SETUP] switch is set to the "SETUP"
side, the function of the front safety door check switch is not
activated.
The selection key must be used to set the [OPERATION] switch to the
"SETUP" mode and kept by the person in charge. In other cases, the key
should not be kept inserted.
WARNING
Do not set the [OPERATION] switch to the "SETUP" side unless
any setup operations are performed.
When the [OPERATION] switch is set to the "SETUP" side,
setup operations become possible with the front safety door
being open. It is very dangerous to operate the machine without
safety check. Be sure to pay a special caution while operating
the machine.

Do not use the floppy disk drive in the control box. The drive is
provided only for the authorized maintenance personnel.
CAUTION
In principle, the overall operation of the machine including the
button operations on the operation panel and the touch screen
must be controlled by only one person.
If there are more than one, ensure good communication by giving loud
verbal instructions to avoid any danger that might be caused by an
unexpected movement of the machine.
Even after the [EMERGENCY STOP] switch is pressed, note
that electrical power is supplied to the control device.
To shutdown the power to all loads, set the power breaker to
"OFF".
When an "Emergency Switch Off" function is required, it must be
prepared on the customer side.

Data may become unavailable due to breakdown or mishandling of
the machine.
It is strongly recommended that the hard disk data be periodically
backed up with the network terminal (option).
