2.4 Prerequisites and Restrictions for the CPP
Placement Head
– The CPP head can only be used from SW 702 and onwards. In this manual, it is assumed that
the appropriate SW is already installed. In this context S- feeder modules are no longer sup-
ported.
– Machines older than serial number B326 are not CPP capable.
– Machines between the serial numbers B326 and B599 can only be upgraded by the SIPLACE
service Munich in the course of a project.
– On machines between the serial numbers B600 and B751 the component trolley docking unit
or the tape control unit must be reconfigured with CAN nodes. Neither nozzle station nor nozzle
changer are working with the 1 wire control. Please observe the assembly instructions for
"CAN Node X-Series SW70x" [00196678-xx] and order the upgrade kit "CAN Nodes for CPP
Head" [03079950-xx] in addition.
– The reconfiguration kit does not include a head camera. One of the following cameras must be
ordered.
The camera type is added during the configuration query of the Head Reconfiguration Kit. The
C&P component camera (type 29) 27x27 digital RK [03018637-xx] is set as default. 2
– [03018637-xx] C&P component camera (type) 27x27 digital RK (default)
– [00119783-xx] CPP head camera (01005)
– In a two gantry placement area, the CPP heads must be fitted on the same height. Both CPP
heads must therefore be fitted in high or low position.
– If, in a two gantry placement area, the CPP head is used together with a TwinHead, the CPP
must only be fitted in the high position.
– If the CPP head is fitted in the high position in placement area 1, it must be fitted in the same
position in placement area 2.
– Due to the turned gantry on X4I machines, the CPP head cannot reach the first 6 feeder tracks
at location 2 and 4. In addition, only 4 of the 6 nozzle changer magazines can be reached here.
Only one nozzle changer is possible per location.
– Please note that there is a danger of crashing when using third party feeder modules.
– It is not possible to use a vacuum pump together with a CPP head. The head principle com-
pulsively requires a compressed air supply for the time being.
– During the placement of a board, no nozzle change is carried out at the CPP head (this applies
to all modes: C&P, P&P and Mixed).
– In conjunction with a stationary camera, the CPP head must always be fitted in the high and
the camera in the low position.
– When using a CPP head, no magazines of the C&P20A head must be present on the nozzle
changer. This is being monitored by the SW.

– When using the reject bin sensor option, an additional sensor for the large component reject
bin must be installed [03079030-xx].
– A new nozzle reject station is needed for the CPP head. On machines of the X-series this sta-
tion can also be used for the C&P20 head. The X4I, however, uses an additional version which
cannot be used for the C&P20 head. Both versions are supplied with the Head Reconfiguration
Kit.
– The CPP head can only be used with stationary cameras of version -04 or higher.
– In SW 702, the CPP head is not released for a two gantry placement area with MTC. In this
configuration, there is no nozzle changer available at the location with the MTC.
– In a one-gantry placement area with MTC the head must always be fitted in the high position.
The installation height is monitored during the head reference run.
– For CPP heads in the high position that are used in conjunction with an MTC the lowest pickup
height with respect to the top edge of the board is -1.5 mm when the shortest nozzle is used.
Any edges protruding the tray must also be observed.
2.4.1 Reconfiguration Times
The following reconfiguration times have to be considered per head: 2
CAUTION
– Danger of crashing: When using the CPP head together with an MTC the travel
range must be restricted in addition. To do this, you will need the 2 extensions for the
Y axis stop
("Adaption Stop Y Axis MTC" [03075963-xx]). These are included in the Head Re-
configuration Kit.
– Danger of crashing: When using the CPP head together with the MTC, the "notch
socket" positioning aid at the docking frame of the MTC must be replaced. For this,
you will need 2 "notch sockets" [03010773-02]. The new notch socket is 103 mm
high.
A docking frame of version -04 must not be reconfigured. The notch sockets are in-
cluded in the Head Reconfiguration Kit.
– When using the CPP head together with the MTC, the crash light barriers on the feed-
ing axis of the MTC must be fitted at the low position. Please refer to the Assembly
Instructions "MTC2 on Component Trolley Docking Unit X-S" [00194725-xx] for fur-
ther details.
Placement head Single conveyor /
dual conveyor
Task
Removing the CPP 30 min. Without options, like nozzle changer, query com-
ponent reject bin (component reject bin sensor)
and stationary camera
Fitting the CPP 90 / 100 min. Including mapping and without options, like noz-
zle changer, query component reject bin (compo-
nent reject bin sensor) and stationary camera
