Components
Description
Client Applications:
Web Server
Consists of web services for providing the data for web and mobile
clients.
The Web Server can be additionally deployed in a DMZ (Demilitarized
Zone) to provide clients outside of the factory.
Services:
Post Master
Windows service; messaging platform for ASM Performance Monitor
and the contact point for all the other components. Post Master also
distributes the loads among the servers when additional servers are
added. It connects to OIB to retrieve the OIB Factory Layout.
Factory Server
Windows service that provides performance data at the Factory Level.
Report Server
Windows service that provides the performance data for individual
Lines. It is also responsible for the aggregation of data.
Live Server
Windows service that receives data from OIB and produces
performance data.
Databases:
Line DB
Each line has its own database.
Factory DB
Shared database among all components.
Optional Features:
AOI Adapter
Optionally, the AOI Adapter can be installed on another computer as
ASM Performance Monitor Server.
APM Mobile
Optionally, the APM Mobile web can be installed to connect mobile
devices.

NOTICE
OIB Core and ASM Performance Monitor Web Server must be installed on separate
physical servers.
It is further recommended to install Post Master, Live Server, Factory Server and Report
Server on separate servers to support scalability to a larger factory.

4 Installing ASM Performance Monitor
This chapter describes important preparations to be performed prior to the installation and how to
install the ASM Performance Monitor software.
4.1 Preparations Prior to Installation
– For more detailed information on which software is essential and must be successfully installed
before performing the installation of ASM Performance Monitor, please refer to the ASM
Support Media and the respective manual.
► Make sure you use the Prerequisite Analyzer of ASM Support Media.
► Select ASM Performance Monitor as planned product to install all required missing
prerequisites for ASM Performance Monitor (e.g. License Manager, Operation Manager,
Error Reporter Service, .Net Framework).
– All computers, except for the Web clients, must have been set up and prepared appropriately in
advance for the complete installation of ASM Performance Monitor to function correctly. These
preparatory measures demand knowledge about the administrative functions of Windows and
SQL server.
► Please contact your system administrator for assistance if required.
NOTICE
It is recommended to install ASM Performance Monitor on a dedicated server separate
from other ASM software products.
User account settings
– The account used to access the database must be assigned the sysadmin role.
Creating Integration Services (SSIS) Catalog
If the Integration Services catalog does not yet exist, it must be created as follows:
► Log in as APM_SSIS user on the remote SQL server.
A one-time login is required to create the user space.
► Open the SQL Server Management Studio.
► Connect to the SQL server using a user with adequate user rights.
► Locate the Integration Services Catalogs node.
► Right-click on the Integration Services Catalogs node to open the context menu and select
the Create Catalog option.

► Enable the automatic execution option of integration services.
