15.1 Installation Instructions and Upgrading

15.1.1 Definitions
15.1.1.1 First-Time Installation
The first time the station software is installed onto the two computer systems of the SIPLACE 80S-20 and
80F

machines is referred to first-time installation. As part of this installation not only the individual software
systems SR and MC are installed onto the hard disk, but also sample machine data.
15.1.1.2 Updating
If a first-time installation has already been carried out and if a newer version of the station software is to be
installed, this procedure is referred to as updating. The software issue is encoded in the last two numbers of
the full version number.
For example:
SR.403.01 = system components SR; Version 403; Issue 01
NOTE
New issues are in fact versions from which bugs have been removed. They do not differ functionally from
older issues and are in principle compatible.
During updating, existing machine data on the hard disk will be retained.
15.1.1.3 Upgrading
The functionality of the station software is indicated in the embedded, three-position number of the complete
version number.
For example:
SR.403.xx
The number 403 identifies the functionality of the software
The installation of a software version with a higher version number than an already installed software version
is referred to as upgrading. During upgrading the machine data will be retained and if necessary automatically
converted into the new data format.
