4.8.1.4 Installing the RMOS
The following menu is displayed after the machine controller has booted from CD:
DO YOU WANT TO CONTINUE RMOS INSTALLATION ?
[C] CONTINUE [P] PREPARE HARDDISK
[R] REBOOT SYSTEM
[T] TERMINATE BATCH PROCESS (Change to DOS)
PRESS KEY TO CONTINUE [C,R,T,P]?
→ Enter 'P' to create the partitions on the hard disk. The system is then booted.
→ When the menu shown above appears again, press 'C' (Continue) to actually install the RMOS.
The basic RMOS installation is now complete. The station software can be installed.
Caution:
After the RMOS has been installed, the USB interface on the machine controller
must be
deactivated, since an activated USB interface can lead to sporadic significant errors which are
difficult to localize.

→ Save the BIOS settings and exit the BIOS Setup.
4.8.1.6 Restore initial configuration
→ Remove RMOS installation CD from the USB CD drive.
→ Remove the keyboard from the machine controller and connect it to the station computer.
→ Switch video multiplexer to SR1.
→ Disconnect the USB cable from the USB CD drive and the machine controller.
→ Press <Ctrl><Alt><Del> to warm start the machine controller.
4.8.2 BIOS update and settings
The current BIOS version and the required BIOS settings are supplied as ISO images on the installation
CD. These images can be used to create bootable CDs with suitable CD writing software on a PC with a
CD writer. These CDs can in turn be used to automatically update the BIOS and make the BIOS settings.
Procedure:
→ Create the CD 'CPU086_MC_BIOS_Update'.
→ Create the CD 'CPU086_MC_BIOS_Settings'.
→ Remove the keyboard from the station computer and connect it to the machine controller.
→ Switch the video multiplexer to SR2/MC.
→ Insert the CD 'CPU086_MC_BIOS_Update' in the USB CD drive and connect the drive to the machine
controller using a USB cable.
→ Press <Ctrl><Alt><Del> to warm start the machine controller.
→ During the warm start, press <Del>.
→ Set the BIOS so that the system boots from the USB CD drive (see section
4.8.1.3).
→ Reboot the machine controller and follow the BIOS update instructions.
→ Insert the CD 'CPU086_MC_BIOS_Settings'.
→ Reboot the machine controller and follow the BIOS setting instructions.
→ Reboot the machine controller and deactivate the USB interface again (see section
4.8.1.5).
→ Restore the initial configuration (see section 4.8.1.6).
