NOTE:
For the adjustments it is the best, if a second person is available 11
à With the feeler gauge, check:
The distance between the empty-tape baffle and the leading edge of the tape deflector must
again be within the TARGET distance 1.0 to 1.5 mm over the entire length (see Fig. 11.4.3 ->
Detail).
If the gap is not OK.
à Loosen the screws holding the empty-tape duct once again and correct the position of the
duct in the holes.
à If this is not enough, you may assume that the cutter was already not in the optimal position
before the empty-tape duct was exchanged:
In this case, correct the position of the cutter in the slots of the retaining brackets in the man-
ner described for the installation of the cutter in Section 11.6.1.2.
If the gap is OK.
à Perform the appropriate “Final Steps” (see Section 11.6.11).
11.6.9 Exchanging Baffles and / or Reject Box (Profile)
The "empty-tape duct assembly" has already been removed, as described in Section 11.6.8.
à Undo the self-tapping M4 screws fastening the baffle or reject box that you want to dismantle
(see detail in Fig. 11.4.3, 13 to 18).
à Insert the new baffle inside/outside and /or the new reject box (Item no.: see Section 11.2) and
fasten it with the self-tapping screws (see Fig. 11.4.3 -> 13 to 18).
à Install the empty-tape duct assembly and check the gap between the leading edge of the tape
deflector and the “empty-tape baffle, inside", as described in Section 11.6.8.
à Perform the appropriate “Final Steps” (see Section 11.6.11).

11.6.10 Exchanging the Rubber-Metal Vibration Damper
For this step, the cutter is lifted out of the machine.
WARNING
Wear thick protective gloves. 11
CAUTION
Before you exchange the rubber-metal vibration dampers, the disassembled pneumatic cutter
must be screwed to the mounting plate (Item no.: Section 11.3) before removing any part.
If this prefabricated plate is not available, the rubber-metal vibration dampers have to be ex-
changed at the Siemens factory because, if this plate is not used, it is impossible to reassemble
the blades/tape deflector without distortion.
The cutter must be completely assembled before it is removed from the plate (all screws tightened:
see Fig. 11.4.2).
Tighten the screws to the correct torque -> see Table, Fig. 11.4.2. 11
NOTE:
In the case of a problem, all 4 rubber-metal vibration dampers are always exchanged. 11
à Turn the machine and then the compessed air ON.
à Disconnect the movable component changeover table from the machine and move it out of the
machine.
à Turn the machine OFF, disconnect the machine from the mains and turn off the flow of com-
pressed air at the compressed air unit. Actuate the needle valve on the compressed air unit to
bleed the compressed air lines (see DANGER text in Section 11.1).
à Remove the pneumatic cutter, as described in Section 11.6.1.1.
à Note the CAUTION text above.
à Before any further disassembly, place the dismantled cutter so that the retaining brackets (LH
and RH) are on the prefabricated mounting plate (Item no.: see Section 11.3) and screw it tight
with four M6 socket hex head cap screws.
à Mark the mounting position on the stationary blade (left end must remain on the left).
à Remove the stationary blade, as described in Section 11.6.2.

à Remove the cover plate holder (incl. cover plate), the tape deflector holder incl. tape deflector
and the two holddowns incl. the spacers, as described in Section 11.6.3.
– The version 03 holddowns match the version 04 cutters (= with tape deflector).
– Blades and spacers are attuned (= match).
à Loosen the screws fastening the 2 rubber-metal vibration dampers on the left and right (one
M4 socket hex head cap screw on each: see Fig. 11.4.3 -> 9).
à Lift the cutter off the rubber-metal vibration dampers on the cutter holders.
à Working from the bottom, loosen the srews fastening all 4 rubber-metal vibration dampers to
the cutter holder (one M4 socket hex screw each: see Fig. 11.4.3 -> 9).
à Make certain that disks and spring washers previously removed are placed back under the vi-
bration dampers (see Fig. 11.4.3 -> 12 and Fig. 11.4.2 -> 18).
à Place the 4 new rubber-metal vibration dampers (Item no.: see Section 11.2) on the retaining
brackets and, working from the bottom of the brackets, screw the dampers tight.
à Working from above, place the cutter onto the vibration dampers and screw it tight to them (Fig.
11.4.3 -> 9). Pay attention to the length of the screws (= 20 mm).
à Assemble the cutter in the manner described in Section 11.6.3.2.
à Dismantle the cutter from the mounting plate.
à Mount the cutter in the machine, as described in Section 11.6.1.2.
à Install the empty-tape duct assembly and check the entire length of the gap between the lead-
ing edge of the tape deflector and the “empty-tape baffle, inside", as described in Section
11.6.8.
à Perform the appropriate “Final Steps” (see Section 11.6.11).
