For“nocamerawiresattached”operationyoumightconsidertheuniversalinfraredshutter
trigger.It’scompatiblewithCanon,Nikon,Sony,Pentax,andmanyothercameras.Itsimply
plugsintothe“ShutterTrigger”portofStackShot.Thismayberequiredifyourcameradoesnot
supportawiredshutterrelease.

audio/videoequipmentsupplystore.Weprovidetheconnectiondiagramsbelowsothatyou

5.1 ShutterTriggerOutput
Thetriggeroutputusesastandard“RCA”jack.RCAexte nsionscomeinalldifferenttypes,one
endasmaleandtheotherasfemale.Toextendtheshuttertriggercable length,simplybuya
mono(single)extensionwhichistypicallyusedforvideo.
AswithallRCAjackstheoutsideconnectorisground.TheStackShottriggeroutputisa“Low
SideDriver”(switchesinground).Thismeansthatwhentheshuttertriggeroutputfires,it
connectsthecenterconductoroftheRCAjacktotheoutsideconnector(ground)todraw
currentthroughthecenterconductor.

5.2 MotorCable
Themotorcableincludedwiththekitisahigh‐qualityS‐video/SVHScablewithlowimpedance.
IfyouaregoingtoextendthelengthbetweentheStackShotcontrollerandtherailmakesureto
useahigh‐qualitycable–otherwiseperformancemaybesacrificed.

6. Setupexamples
6.1 MirrorLockup
Mirrorlock‐upisacommonlyusedfeatureinmacrophotographytoreducevibrationofthe
cameraduringshooting.SLRcamerasswingthemirrorupoutofthelight‐pathtothefilmor
sensorjustpriortotheshutteropening.Thismovementultimatelyleadstovibrationwhichcan
inducemotionblurinthepicture.Somecamerashavetheabilitytoenableafeaturewherethe
firstbuttonpressoftheshutterswingsthemirrorupandthesecondbuttonpressopensthe
shutter.ThisfeaturecanbeprogrammedintoStackShotbygoingintotheconfigurationmenu.
ThismethodisidenticaltosettingStackShottotakemultiplepictures.PresstheCONFIGbutton
toentertheglobalconfiguration:
