HIGH VOLTAGE PROTECTION
Mechanisms The machine incorporates Class 1 electrical protection according to the IEC 536
requirement 1:1993.
All machines prior to shipment undergo electrical safety tests as described in
EN60204-1 (1997) Section 19:
• 19.2 Continuity of the protective bonding circuit
• 19.3 Insulation resistance test
With the exception of the optional Onboard Suction Filtration Unit, machine
mechanisms are powered by voltages less than 50V and do not pose an electrical
hazard to personnel.
NOTE
Refer to Chapter 5 Machine Preparation (Machine Relocation section) for
information on Vacuum Filtration Unit checks.
Access Where incoming supply voltages are present, protection is afforded by control-
ling access to the enclosures that house the supply. The machine is fitted with a
mains isolator switch that cuts power to all circuits located beyond the switch on
both in coming and out going power terminals. The isolator switch is located at
the front of the machine.
Hazard Warning
Labels
Hazard warning labels are placed on the outside of enclosures where dangerous
voltage (100V-240V) terminations are present within.
Earth Bonding All external metal surfaces are mechanically and electrically bonded to the
machine earth point. The bonding wire used is identified by its green and yellow
insulation and is commonly used to earth bond throughout. Care should be taken
when removing these links that when they are replaced they are secured tightly
and cleanly.

MACHINE EXTERNAL SERVICES
In order for the machine to function correctly the following services must be
available. The services must be stable and clean.

Pneumatic Supply The machine requires a pneumatic supply of clean, non lubricated air which
should maintain a pressure of between 5 Bar - 8 Bar at 5 litres/minute.
The air should be to ISO 8573.1 standard, quality class 2.3.3, where :
• 2 dirt = 1 micron
• 3 water = -20°C pressure dewpoint
• 3 oil = 1mg/m3
Electrical Supply The average power consumption for a machine without any options fitted is
1.6KVA at 100V/240V ac 50/60 Hz.
DEK recommends a power supply capacity of 3KVA or greater to accommodate
extra machine options, surges on power-up and certain machine operations.
CAUTION
OVER CURRENT PROTECTION. Magnetic/thermal over current pro-
tectors protect the machines internal wiring and components from over-
heating/fire during fault conditions. DEK require additional machine
supply protection with the fitment of a wall mounted circuit breaker rated
to 16 Amps and conforming to national/federal regulations.
Circuit Breakers The dc circuit breaker panel is located on the front of the M24 dc Power Supply
Module located at the front of the machine and accessed through the front access
panel. The ac circuit breakers are located on the front of the M23 ac Power
Supply Module located at the rear of the machine and accessed through the rear
access panel.
