Instruct the customer's personnel according to the user manual and the preventive mainte-
nance.
4.7.4 A test run or starting production
Test the line using the test PCB or a PCB provided by the customer.
Record the customer product and performance data, prepare the data and document the data

5 Tasks at the placement machine
This chapter contains a number of subjects that are intended to help you during your daily work
on a SIPLACE line. For example, you are provided with preventative measures that you can take
to minimize the downtime on the placement machine to obtain the highest possible level of effi-
ciency for the SIPLACE line during production.
5.1 Staff profiles

Certain functions or menus may only be executed or can only accessed by specially trained per-
sonnel. A differentiation is made between the following operator levels:
Production
Advanced production
Service (customer)
The operator levels "Advanced production" and "Service (customer)" can be password protected.
PLEASE NOTE
Proper usage by qualified personnel
Incorrect usage poses a risk to life and limb and a risk of damage to equipment.
Only appropriately qualified personnel may put the placement machine into opera-
tion, operate it or perform work to the placement machine. You will find further infor-
mation about this in section 1.3.5
, page 23.
Evidence of these qualifications must be obtained in training or instructions of per-
sonnel. These instructions must be given by personnel trained and authorized by SI-
PLACE. For an overview of the training courses, refer to section 1.4
, page 25.

5.1.1 Operator level "Production"
5.1.1.1 Tasks
The operating and maintenance personnel should be given the following tasks:
Checking the assignment of components to the feeder modules
To do this, a setup check is to be carried out several times a day, preferably at the start
of a shift, to make sure that the correct components are set up.
Supplying the feeder modules with sufficient components
Promptly refilling the components and splicing the tapes
Promptly emptying the cover foil container (e.g. after each splicing procedure)
Checking to make sure that the components are in their correct pickup positions (see fig. 5.13
- 1)
Checking the flow of material to the PCBs on the input and output conveyor
Checking the setup quality
Random sampling of the PCBs before they enter the soldering furnace.
Observing the ESD regulations
Observing the fault displays and messages at the station and passing the information on to
the line engineer if necessary
Carrying out the work specified in the preventive maintenance manual
5.1.1.2 Tools and equipment
All operators are to be equipped with the tools listed in the following. It is recommended to store
the tools in an appropriate container to avoid being injured when removing the tools from the con-
tainer (i.e. by a pair of tweezers).
Each operator of the placement machine requires:
Operator kit (item no. 00349303-xx)
–SMD tweezers
A brush with short bristles to clean the changeover tables
A set of small regular and Phillips-head screwdrivers
Scissors for splicing tape (do not use multi-purpose scissors or diagonal cutters)
Tape splicing tool (item no. 02102987-xx)
