Operating Manual 2.1 Safety Information
Qualified Personnel
As defined in the operating manual of the SIPLACE placement system, qualified or sufficiently
trained personnel refer to persons who are familiar with the installation, operation, and servicing
of the docking station for SIPLACE SX changeover tables, including the SIPLACE placement
system and its accessories, and who have appropriate qualifications, such as:
Training or instruction and/or authorization to energize/de-energize, isolate, ground, or label
electric circuits and machine parts according to safety standards.
Training or instruction in maintenance and use of appropriate safety equipment and any
“necessary safety equipment” on the docking station for SIPLACE SX changeover tables in
accordance with safety engineering standards.
Training by the manufacturer for setup or service technicians for the docking station for
SIPLACE SX changeover tables and the SIPLACE placement system.
First aid training.
User
The user is only allowed to perform actions on the machine that are necessary to ensure
automatic operation in normal mode. All other required actions are generally performed together
with the qualified person. If a tool is necessary to correct a problem (e.g., to unscrew a cover), this
falls under special mode. This problem may only be corrected by a qualified person.
NOTE
The user is also required to read Chapter “Safety”.
NOTE
Also read Chapters “User Classification”, “Operating Safety”, and “Training” in the operating
manual of the placement system in conjunction with user roles.

2.1.4 Intended Use
DANGER
Unintended use of the product is prohibited (see Section 2.1.5).
“Intended use” is defined as follows:
The docking station for SIPLACE SX changeover tables is used for the external setup of
changeover tables with feeder modules, function tests and setup checks.
The docking station for SIPLACE SX changeover tables may only be used for the applications
described in the catalogues and technical specifications, as stipulated in the PCB and
component specifications. Any other use or use beyond this purpose is considered
unintended.
The docking station for SIPLACE SX changeover tables may only be used with third-party
devices and components recommended or approved by the manufacturer, and only if
approved genuine spare parts are used. Any other use or use beyond this purpose is
considered unintended.
The docking station for SIPLACE SX changeover tables may only be used under the
installation, connection and operating conditions defined in this operating manual.
The docking station for SIPLACE SX changeover tables may only be connected to the
operating voltage, after it has been properly installed and the installation was checked.
The docking station for SIPLACE SX changeover tables may only be put into or remain in
operation, if all required warning labels on the machine are readable and attached at the
correct locations.
Smooth and safe running of the product requires proper storage, proper transport, correct
assembly and installation, as well as careful operation, maintenance, and service by
sufficiently qualified personnel authorized to perform those tasks through training by the
manufacturer.
Intended use also includes following all instructions in the Installation Manual, the Operating
Manual and specifically in the Operating Manual of the respective SIPLACE placement
system, as the SIPLACE SX docking station is signally and mechanically linked with the
placement system, which requires that the interaction of the machines must be known and
observed.
Furthermore, with regard to the interfaces and signal sequences it may be necessary to refer
to the operating manuals for other adjacent modules.

Operating Manual 2.1 Safety Information
The contents of the above-mentioned installation and operating manuals of the docking station
for SIPLACE SX changeover tables, as well as the operating manual of the SIPLACE
placement system and of other connected modules/machines, must be fully understood and
followed to ensure that the conditions for starting and activating the docking station for
SIPLACE SX changeover tables, and thus for the “intended use” are present.
The manufacturer assumes no liability for any damage or injuries and makes no warranties for the
proper and functionally correct behaviour of the docking station for SIPLACE SX changeover
tables in the event of unintended use.
2.1.5 Unintended use
DANGER
Unintended use of the product poses the risk of serious injury or death and/or severe damage to
property. For this reason, unintended use is strictly prohibited.
The manufacturer assumes no liability for any damage or injuries and makes no warranties for the
proper and functionally correct behaviour of the components in the event of unintended use.
Unintended use of the docking station for SIPLACE SX changeover tables including the
SIPLACE unit or other interfacing line modules includes, for example:
The use for other purposes than defined in the “Intended Use” section, i.e. including using
PCBs and components that are outside the specification.
Transport, installation, and power connection (electric and/or pneumatic) as well as the
interface connection to the SIPLACE placement system under other installation, connection,
and operating conditions than specified in this operating manual and in the installation manual.
The electrical connection of the docking station for SIPLACE SX changeover tables to the
operating voltage, before the installation has not been finished and checked.
Use of unauthorized spare parts, accessories, and auxiliary modules.
Operation of the docking station and the SIPLACE placement system and the performing of
tasks by unqualified, insufficiently trained personnel.
Performing of service and maintenance tasks by personnel lacking the necessary qualifications,
and performing of tasks that go beyond the extent described in the relevant documents.
Removing of covers by unauthorised personnel.
Operation of the docking station for SIPLACE SX changeover tables and/or SIPLACE
placement system if the safety features have been manipulated or removed.
Failure to comply with the operating instructions for the docking station for SIPLACE SX
changeover tables or information on subsequent procedures in the maintenance, service, and
installation manuals of the docking stations for SIPLACE SX changeover tables.
