5.5.2.6 Entering component level
Changing the component level is only possible on the "Operator" access level. This does not apply to any of
the other entries (e.g. threshold).
Specifying the remaining length of the tape behind the feeder
It is difficult to estimate the filling level of a partially used reel. The system therefore now provides help for
doing this. The operator specifies the remaining length of the tape behind the rear edge of the feeder.
The system first calculates the overall remaining tape length including the length of the feeder. On the basis
of the feeder pitch (which must be entered in the programming system) the system calculates the number of
components remaining.
Remaining component level = (length of feeder + remaining length behind feeder) / pitch
The length of the feeder can be assumed to be 50 cm.
Next to the screen area "Supply", there is another screen area "Remaining length", which includes this entry
field.
An entry in one of the fields "Supply" or "Remaining length" always causes the value in the other field to be
adjusted.
If the component level correction function is called by clicking the "Edit" button in the component level
indicator, the input focus is on the "Enter remaining length" field. The value previously entered in the field is
also selected, so that the operator can correct the value using only the keyboard without needing the mouse.
Note:
The
threshold value "Remaining length" is also calculated as of the rear edge of the feeder as of this version.
If a remaining length x is entered, the system uses a remaining length of x + 50 cm. This harmonizes the
specification with the new option for entering the component levels.
5.5.2.7 Initialization using the menu command "New table"
The function "New table" ("Set") should always reset the data maintenance for the corresponding track. All
data scanned in previously and all saved commands (splice detected) are deleted. The record reported with
"New table" is entered in the first batch. This option allows the operator to proceed in a defined manner from
"unclear" statuses. In the case of "repair operations" (continuation from a situation which is unclear for the
operator), the operator is responsible for recording the correct status:

5.5.2.8 Setup names of up to 50 characters
In conjunction with SMV Version 6.6.34 (or later) it is possible to use setup names of up to 50 characters
(was previously 20 characters).
5.5.3 2321m embedded software for ICOS MVS 340
As of version 407.04, the embedded software 2321m is used by default on machine types SIPLACE F
5
,
SIPLACE S23 and SIPLACE F5HM. This version is required as a result of the revised hardware (MVS 340
Rev. 6). Downloading an older version of the embedded software onto this hardware would render it
unusable. All older releases of the MVS 340 can be operated with the new embedded software.

5.6 New Functions in 407.03
Software version 407.03 is based on Version 407.02 and comprises all the functions and error corrections
for this version together with the service packs created for Version 407.02. Version 407.03 of the software
also incorporates the following new features and changes:
Windows XP operating system for the station computer
Support for Traceability SOKO "Threshold value and activation"
Maintenance tasks and elimination of errors
5.6.1 Windows XP operating system for the station computer
Version 407.03 makes it possible to use the Windows XP operating system for SIPLACE machines. This
takes the constantly changing state of hardware into account. Of course, the Windows NT 4.0 operating
system that was previously used is still fully supported.
Operation of the station is identical for both operating systems. There are some minor changes with regard
to installing the station software; these are dealt with in the section
9.3.
The only difference to Version 407.02 is that the operating system uses a different mandatory screen
resolution of 800 * 600 (previously 640 * 480). On older monitors this can lead to a bad picture quality. In this
case it is recommended to exchange the monitors.
5.6.2 Software support for the "Threshold value and activation" Special Design
Version 407.03 supports the "Traceability SUA" special design. This enables traceability to be enabled for
selected components. Interface definitions, prerequisites for the special design and operation are described
in the 407.02 Traceability Manual.
For further information and to order the special design, contact L&A EA CS AP SOKO.
Changes to the Traceability option in connection with the station software "Traceability SUA" special design:
The previous threshold value "Components" on the component level indicator has been replaced with
"Remaining length in mm". This deactivates the relevant track as soon as the remaining length of the
tape (measured from the pickup position) falls below the threshold. Since a feeder has a length of
approximately 500 mm, the threshold values should accordingly be set higher than this value.
Caution: The threshold value "Remaining length in mm" may only be activated
when the Traceability option is installed.
Caution: For this threshold value to function correctly, the feeder pitch must have been entered
correctly
