9 Installation Instructions
9.1 Prerequisites
If you are upgrading to version 406 from a software version earlier than 407, make sure that the connectors
(if fitted) of the V24 link between machine controller and station computer have been disconnected on both
sides. This applies both to the installation and the operation.
9.1.1 Station Computer
Prerequisite for the installation of the station computer version 407.05 is the successful installation of the
Windows NT 4.0 operating system (including Service Pack 6 and the Microsoft Security Patch for Windows
NT 4.0) or the Windows XP operating system (including Service Pack 1). Prior to installing the software,
back up all machine data (*.ma) and the files for the option settings (*.opt) contained in the directory
C:\SRDaten\SrcMa.
Microsoft security patch for Windows NT 4.0
This patch from Microsoft must be installed due to sporadic network errors. Since the patch is language-
specific and only German and English versions can be offered on the CD, other language variants –
where necessary – must be downloaded directly from Microsoft.
The software is found on the CD under:
Siplace\Nt_srp\Deutsch\Q299444i.exe or Siplace\Nt_srp\English\ Q299444i.exe

9.1.2 Machine Controller
For the installation of the machine controller 407 it is imperative that a bootable RMOS installation (version
3.20) has been carried out on the C-partition of the hard disk of the MC module.
Required partitioning of the hard disk: C: partition 50 MB, active boot partition
D: partition 150 MB, SIPLACE software

9.2.1 SIPLACE S20, SIPLACE F4 and SIPLACE F5
9.2.1.1 Configuration of the M44 BIOS
The automatic detection function must not be used for the hard disk settings in Setup. The following
parameters must be entered manually.

9.2.1.2 Installation
• Insert the "MC RMOS 80S/F, BOOT DISK Disk -1/2-" diskette into the floppy disk drive of the M44 and
turn on the station.
Copies of the diskettes are also contained on the CD of the station software in the directory Siplace \Sip_mc
\ <machine type>\FD_image.RM3. The diskettes for the machine controller operating system can be created
on any PC with Windows-NT, e.g. station computers. To this end, start the programs rmos-1.exe, or
rmos-2.exe and follow the directions.
The following message is displayed on the screen:

If "A" is chosen, the setting of the network addresses and port IDs can be performed at this point (see
section
9.2.1.3).

If the virus warnings are not DISABLED!, the machine must be rebooted by typing "N".
Note
Following the initial installation it is necessary that the standard files installed be adapted to the user
network.
In the case of updates / upgrades, the already-set network addresses will be retained.
The Internet addresses of the M44 are stored in "C:\ETC\HOSTS".
The port IDs of the M44 are stored in "C:\ETC\SERVICES".
