In addition to the standard gantry, there is also a special 40 mm gantry available for the Twin
VHF. Unless otherwise specified, all work is described using the example of the standard gan-
try. Any relevant differences will be mentioned explicitly.

Overview
Removal
► Switch off the machine, disconnect it from the power supply and secure it to prevent unauthorized
reactivation. Observe the instructions in section "1.2 Preparatory Work..." [ ➙ 13].
► Loosen the two screws fastening the incremental encoder.
► Loosen the cable to the head interface. Open the corresponding cable ties to help you.
► Unplug the cable from the head interface.
Installation
► Follow the removal instructions in reverse order for installation. Also observe the following instruc-
tions:

This incremental encoder can be used for the white/silver and for the gray/golden scales.

3. Screws fastening the incremental encoder
4. X axis incremental encoder
CAUTION
Installation instructions
► Clean the reading surface of the incremental encoder with an optical (lint-free) cloth and
ethanol or with a cleansing tip.
► The incremental encoder needs to be fitted at a distance of 0.75 mm parallel to the scale.
Use the plastic foil scale supplied to check this. Make sure that this distance is kept along
the whole width of the incremental encoder and then check the track signals with the track
signal tester.
