5.4 Base
5.4.1 Cleaning the air/mist filter and cup
Air filters and oil mist filters are installed to this machine to prevent oil, water, and impurities, etc., from being
introduced into the machine from the air compressor. The following describes the procedures for inspecting,
cleaning, and replacing these filters. Make sure to detach the air coupler of the supply air connecting part for
safety work.

Disconnect the air coupler of the
supply air.
1. Turn the air supply/exhaust switch to the
"EXT" side.
2. Disconnect the air coupler of the supply
air.

CAUTION
Be aware that a loud air exhaust sound is heard when
disconnecting the air coupler. Use care to prevent oil,
water, and impurities, etc., from being sprayed out.

Check the inside of the filer cup.
Check for oil or water deposits in the filter
cup. If the cup is not clean, follow the steps
3 and 4 to clean it.
TIP
The drain cock at the bottom of the filter cup is an
auto-drain type. It automatically drains the oil or water
when deposited in the cup. It is recommended to
connect a hose to this drain cock.

Detach the filter cup.
Turn the cup to the left and pull the cup
downward while pushing the button.
Regarding the air filter, the cup and the
media are detached simultaneously.

Clean the inside of the filter cup.
1. Lightly clean the filter cup with water.
2. Pour water-diluted neutral detergent into
the filter cup and clean the inside while
shaking it.
3. Air blow the filter cup and wipe away
any moisture with clean cloth or paper.

Attach the media and cup.
Attach the media and cup by reversing the
removal procedure previously described.

CAUTION
Make sure not to drop the O-ring for cup when
attaching the media and cup.

Reconnect he air coupler.
1. After reconnecting the air hose, check
that no air is leaking.
2. Turn the air supply/exhaust switch to the
"Supply" side.

6. Two-year inspection
6.1 Head unit
6.1.1 Replacing the ejector bit
As the ejector bit is used for a long time, its function may lower. Therefore, it is recommended to replace the
ejector bit with a new one once every about 2 years so as to maintain its performance even though this service
life may vary depending on the operating conditions. The following describes the replacement procedures for
the ejector bit.

NOTE
The procedure of HM head unit is described as example. The procedure of HM5 head unit is also the same.

CAUTION
The bit cannot be reused. When replacing the ejector
bit, be sure to use a new one.

Prepare for the work.

1. Press the emergency stop button to open
the machine safety cover.
2. Move the head unit forward.

Place a square cloth under the head unit

Detach the baffle plate.
Remove the 2 screws mounting the baffle
plate with a phillips screwdriver.

Remove the bit cap.
Turn the bit cap left by hand to remove it.

Replace the bit.
Pull out the bit to be replaced from the bit
cap and insert a new bit.
If the muffler is contaminated, replace it
with a new one.

Reattach the bit cap.
Insert the bit cap into its original position
and turn it right to mount it.

Reattach the baffle plate.
1. Reattach the baffle plate.
