Belts becoming damaged due to poor tracking and pulley. Bracket sometimes becomes
bent as a result.
Service strategy:
Changes automatically implemented into series production and spare parts. Kit of
replacement part available for affected machines in field.
1. Problem
Print carriage belt damaged or breaking and / or bracket bending.
2. Cause
Incorrect profile of drive pulley causing belt to track poorly. Loose screws on idler pulleys and
motor.

3. Solution
If required, a kit of parts is now available to ensure the parts being replaced are correct and
assembled accordingly. BOM part number is 03223118-01 and the drive pulley and drive
belt should also be replaced, part numbers 03128639-01 & 03128581-01 respectively.
To fit to the machine:
1. Remove drive belt – see Technical Reference Manual.
2. Remove motor assembly from print carriage – remove cables, bolts and earth strap.
3. Remove drive pulley from motor – loosen grub screws securing pulley.
4. Remove bracket from motor.
5. Fit new bracket assembly to motor – use threadlocker.
6. Fit new drive pulley to motor, ensure grub screws are tight!
7. Fit motor assembly to print carriage – connect cables and earth strap, use threadlocker.
8. Fit belt – see Technical Reference Manual.
Note: Ensure all fasteners are adequately tightened and appropriate threadlock is used!

Cycle the print carriage in diagnostics to ensure that belt is tracking centrally on the pulleys. If
not, adjust the belt position in the front and rear clamps to achieve correct belt tracking.
