7.9. Motor troubleshooting
Upon occurrence of error, alarms are generated by blinking the 7 segment LED of the
motor drive. In this case, take necessary actions based on the following table.
Table 7-1. Motor Troubleshooting
Alarm
Code No.
Alarms Causes Countermeasures
Control voltage is too low. Raise voltage.
Insufficient control voltage
capacity
Increase power source capacity.
11
Control Voltage
Abnormal
Damage of servo amp
circuit
Replace servo amp.
Disconnecting of
regenerative resistor.
Replace the regenerative resistance
if the resistance measured by the
tester is infinite ().
External regenerative
resistor inadequate.
Replace with the regenerative
resistor complying with the
specification.
12
Prevention of
Overvoltage
Damage of servo amp
circuit.
Replace servo amp.
Voltage is too low Raise the voltage.
Insufficient power source
capacity
Increase power source capacity.
Loss of one phase in the 3
phase servo amp.
Accurately connect L1, L2 and L3.

Damage of servo amp
circuit
Replace servo amp
Damage of servo amp. Replace servo amp.
Phase to phase short
circuit fault of motor cables
Correct the motor cable connection.
1 phase ground fault of
motor cable.
Correct the motor cable connection.
Motor burnt. Replace motor.
Contact fault of motor
cable.
Fix cable connection securely.
Relay for dynamic brake
has melted down.
Replace servo amp.
Motor and servo amp do
not match with each other.
Replace with the servo amp suitable
for motor.
14
Prevention of
Over Current
Pulse input arrives earlier
than servo-on.
Set the pulse input to reach 100ms
after servo-on.
Servo amp temperature is
higher than rating.
Improve the servo amp cooling
condition.
15
Overheat
Prevention
Overload of servo amp.
Decrease load by increasing the
capacities of servo amp and motor.

Alarms Causes Countermeasures
Long time operation of
motor under overload
condition.
Decrease load by increasing the
capacities of servo amp and motor.
Gain setting error. Set gain again.
Wiring error of motor
cables.
Correct wiring.
There is a hindrance in
the motor operation path.
Remove the hindrance and decrease
load.
Self brake is on. Release self brake terminal.
16
Overload
Prevention
Motor cable connection is
changed between the
motors.
Correct wiring.
PCB fault Replace servo amp
Power source voltage drop
Adjust power source voltage within
the value of specification
Rectifier damaged Replace servo amp
Excessive variation of
Input power voltage
Adjust to within the power source
voltage of the specification.
18
Regeneration
Overload
PCB fault Replace servo amp.

Encoder
Missing encoder pulses of
A/B phases
Encoder fault.
21
Encoder
Communicatio
n Error
Communication
interference due to
encoder cable
disconnection.
Check encoder wiring and correct
wiring mistakes.
22
Encoder Wiring
Error
Encoder is not connected
to the servo amp.
23
Encoder
Communicatio
n Error
Damage of encoder
communication data due to
noise
Check if encoder power is
5VDC(4.75~5.25V), and install the
motor cable and encoder cable
separately.
Shield the encoder cable.
24
Position Limit
Exceeding
Error
Motor does not move in
accordance with the
command pulse.
Adjust gain.
Reduce load.
