As the market leader in wire bond inspection, Viscom now offers
3D inspection of thin wires for the first time. This new process
features a smart combination of 3D bond inspection and very
high resolution telecentric optics, which enables even the most
complex bond layouts to be reliably inspected. Bond wires with a
diameter down to 20μm can be inspected.
Exceptional inspection scope in 3D
Depending on the application, Viscom can accurately inspect
specified loop heights for bonding wires in printed circuit board
design using its new 3D technology. With the acquired height
information it is also possible to reliably detect the distance be-
tween wires crossing one another in order to ensure risk-free and
error-free assembly operation . Even heights of wedges concealed
under bonding wires can be reliably inspected using the Viscom
3D bond inspection. Other applications include determining the
distance between wires and chips as well as reliably detecting so-
called lifters, the balls or wedges of which have no connection to
the contact surface and therefore have no electrical function. The
3D information can also be used to check specified wire lengths
by determining the exact course of the wire.
To summarize, 3D bond inspection from Viscom offers an ideal
extension to inspection depth for even more reliable bond in-
spection of complex assemblies.
