4.3.4 Security Settings

CAUTION

For security reasons, it is essential to avoid connecting the station computer to the

Internet.

The following settings have been made on Windows 10:

● The operating system's internal Windows Firewall is active. Necessary clearance is given

through the station software installation.

● The Microsoft virus scanner Windows Defender is enabled (real-time protection). To update the

Security intelligence updates for Windows Defender there are the following possibilities:

– Update using Windows Server Update Services (WSUS)

– Manuel update (offline / stand-alone)

1. On a computer with internet connection, click on the following link:

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/wdsi/defenderupdates

2. Scroll to the section Manually download the update and click on 64-bit next to

Microsoft Defender Antivirus for Windows 10 and Windows 8.1.

The file mpam-fe.exe is downloaded.

3. To install the Windows Defender Update file (mpam-fe.exe) on a station computer, copy

the file to a USB stick and connect the USB stick to the station computer.

4. Double-click on the file on the USB stick to start the installation. Normally, the

installation is finished after a few seconds. No feedback is given on whether the

installation has been finished successfully.

To verify if the installation has been successful, start Windows Defender and check the

version number and the date of the virus and spyware definitions (see Update).

It is recommended to perform a virus scan after updating Windows Defender.

5 Installing and Calibrating the Touch Screen

Now the touch screen can be installed and calibrated (station computer only without Multitouch

Monitor). For this, perform the following steps:

► Log on as ASM_Admin and enter a password.

► In the SIPLACE Configurator, click on the Add-ons and Touch Screen Driver button under

Optional Installation to select and install a touch screen driver. Follow the installation

instructions.

► After installation, calibrate the touch screen as described in the installation manual for the

station software.

► Remove the software CD from the DVD drive or release the USB stick and remove it from the

USB interface.
