1.4 Functions
The following functions will be enabled with the licenses in the installation package:

1.5 Installing the PCB Barcode Function
In PCB Barcode versions <3.0, software licenses and a USB dongle have to be installed on the
computer to use the PCB Barcode function.
As of the PCB Barcode version 3.0, another method may be used alternatively with which no USB
dongle is required. The PCB Barcode function is realized via an internal algorithm and only the
software licenses are required.
The required software licenses are available in the installation package.
► Log in as administrator on the station computer.
► Install the software licenses with the License Manager.
NOTICE
The use of Traceability is not mandatory for the PCB Barcode function und thus it is
optional to install the software license "SIPLACE Traceability Machine Connection".

1.6 Enabling the PCB Barcode Function
The PCB Barcode function has to be enabled in SIPLACE Pro.
► In the Station Editor, enable the PCB barcode reader option for the first station in the line and
the Whisper Down the Line option for each station in the line.
► In the Setup Editor, select the Inkspots and Panel Fiducials and PCB Barcodes edit fields
and then select the appropriate mode for Whisper Down the Line.
The barcode fiducials can be edited and enabled/disabled for the barcode recognition under the
Barcode Fiducial tab in the Board Editor.
Detailed information about the PCB Barcode function settings can be found in the online help to
SIPLACE Pro and in the SIPLACE Traceability User Guide, item no. [00197472-xx].
1.7 Testing the PCB Barcode Function
You can test the PCB Barcode function with SIPLACE Pro and the station software.
In SIPLACE Pro:
► Create a new board in the Board Editor.
► Create a new fiducial of the type PCB Barcode in the Fiducial Editor and enter dimensions
and tolerances.
► Create at least one component for the board in the Component Editor.
► Assign the component and the barcode fiducial to the board in the Board Editor.
► Define the placement program for the station.

manual and in the online help to SIPLACE Pro.
In the station software:
After the placement program has been downloaded to the station:
► Teach the PCB barcode under Teaching fiducials in the Board view.

1.8 Restrictions
The following restrictions apply to the PCB Barcode function V3.0:
– The function is only supported as of SIPLACE Pro version 11.2 and station software version
707.1 (and in compatible mode 706.2).
– Station software V60x is not supported.
