SIPLACE OIB 4.3 Client API 05/2016 Edition

1 Brief Description

SIPLACE OIB Client API is a component, which enables applications to access the SIPLACE OIB

Adapters functionality through Proxies accessible via .NET Assemblies. Therefore the SIPLACE OIB Client

API installs the Smart Proxies which can communicate with the potentially remotely installed SIPLACE OIB

Adapters. These can support different versions of the product. The SIPLACE OIB Client API supports one

version set of the SIPLACE OIB interfaces.

To use the functionality the SIPLACE OIB Client API must be installed first. The installation will install the

Proxies into globally accessible locations.

A customer application using SIPLACE OIB 4.3 Proxies needs also a SIPLACE OIB Client API 4.3

installation when the installation of the customer application will not deploy these assemblies.

A SIPLACE OIB Client API 4.3 installation can be used to deploy error corrections from the OIB Proxies for

all customer applications using the same major and minor version number as well as applications using

proxies greater or equal to 3.1.

1.1 When to install which version

There are some rules when to install which version. See chapter “SIPLACE OIB Proxy” in the

“00197701-04_IM_SIPLACE-OIB-4.3_EN.pdf” document for details.

If you are not sure which version to install, the basic recommendation is to upgrade always to the newest

Client API Version and install all offered versions.

3 Requirements

The Support Media DVD included in the installation package checks the necessary system requirements of your

system and installs the needed components like Microsoft .NET Framework, the License Manager and the Error

Reporting tool.

The use of the Support Media V2.3 is mandatory.

The system requirements (supported operating systems and database variants) and an overview of the

interoperable products can be found in the SIPLACE Support Media Installation Manual, item no. [00197214-
