All the work described below relates to retrofitting for the “automatic splice detection” option on
the SIPLACE S/F machines. This work must only be carried out by Siemens service engineers.
Because of the weight of the component a second person is necessary to mount/unmount the unit.
The safety instructions from the “Operational safety” chapter of the user manual or service manual
take precedence over these instructions.
SIPLACE S-25 HM (1) / S-25 HM2 / F4 / F5 HM machines are supplied with
120V~ / 208V~ +/- 5% (US-Version) bzw. 3 x 230V~/400V~ +/- 5%, 50/60 Hz main power voltage.
Consequently parts of these systems carry dangerous voltages inside the machine frame, even
when switched off at the main switch.
BEFORE starting any work, shut down the Windows NT operating system correctly, then switch
the machine OFF at the main switch and disconnect from the main power supply. Then switch off
the compressed air supply at the main valve on the compressed air unit in the machine frame, and
vent by actuating the needle valve in the compressed air unit. (This is particularly important since
the air that remains in the pneumatic cutting device after uncoupling / dismantling the changeover
table is a potential source of injury).
Always follow the accident prevention regulations, DIN or other standards and special safety rules
applicable in your country. Always follow DIN EN 60204 and DIN VDE 105-100 when working in-
side the machine frame.
Pay attention to the information concerning residual voltages in the Operating safety chapter.
Follow the instructions concerning electrostatic discharge (ESD) (see the Operating safety chap-
ter).
During the retrofit, always secure the machine to prevent access by other people and to prevent
it being switched on again. The procedure is described in the “Locking the machine…” section of
the user manual.
If the component cart is out of the machine or is not correctly coupled to the machine, DO NOT
connect it electrically to the machine frame = Incorrect usage = Risk of death.
Working with the SITEST program further increases the risk of accident.
The SITEST program must only be used by authorized personnel.
The component changeover table must always be retracted and correctly coupled before any
work with the SITEST program starts.
