Installation Manual SIPLACE EDM Version 1.1 Issue 07/2005
Valid for: Master server
Description: Activation/deactivation of direct import/rejection of notifications by the master
server.
If these filters are deactivated, all notifications are entered in the clearing pool. If
they are activated, changes to objects can be accepted/rejected without first being
displayed in the clearing pool (for configuration, see sections 5.4.3 and 5.4.4).
5.2.3.18 Modified object protection
Key: useModifiedObjectProtection
Type: String (“true”/”false”)
Default: true
Valid for: Line server
Description: Activation/deactivation of the overwriting of modified objects in the line server.
If this object is activated, objects which are currently in the clearing pool are not
overwritten with the (older) data from the master server during a pull operation.
5.2.3.19 Response timeout
Key: responseTimeout
Type: Time
Default:
P0Y0M0DT0H5M0S (= 5 minutes)
Valid for: Line server
Description: Time period in which the line server considers a reply to a service request from the
master server to be valid. Timing problems can arise here due to the interaction
between SIPLACE Pro and XML Import/Export that may require a change to be
made. However, the timeout should not be set to a value too high since this can
cause the users to become very irritated.
The other options are as follows (from left to right):
Y = years
M = months
D = days
H = hours
M = minutes
S = seconds

5.2.3.20 Compression type
Key: compressionType
Type: Enum
Values: None
Zip
Bzip
Default: Zip
Valid for: Line server
Master server
Clearing pool
Description: Compression mode for the data transfer. The setting must be identical throughout
the entire system.
The default setting represents a good compromise between the compression ratio
and processing time. If extremely large amounts of data are transferred by the
customer, it may be necessary to set the compression to Bzip. This method offers a
much higher compression ratio than Zip, but at the cost of longer processing times.
Compression should only be switched off when the amount of data is always very
small (< 4MB).
5.2.3.21 Client workflow configuration
Key: clientWorkflowConfig
Type: File
Default: Clientworkflowconfig.xml
Valid for: Line server
Description: Definition of the workflow on the EDM client. The file name is specified relative to
the configuration directory.
5.2.3.22 Service remoting endpoint
Key: serviceRemotingEndpoint
Type: String
36 of 64
Installation Manual SIPLACE EDM Version 1.1 Issue 07/2005
Valid for: Line server
Description: .NET remoting endpoint for communication between the EDM client and EDM line
server. The entry has the format:
[servername]:[tcpport]/EdmService
5.2.3.23 Application template storage
Key: templateStorage
Type: Path
Default:
[AppDir]\templateStorage
Valid for: Line server
Master server
Description: Storage location for application templates. The path can be specified absolutely or
relative to the EDM installation directory.
5.2.3.24 Assigned SPI lines
Key: spiLines
Type: Section
Valid for: Line server
Description: Contains the SPI lines assigned to the line server. This entry is only used for
the EDM 1.1 VDM blob extensions.
The entries have the format <line path="path"/>, where “path” is the
unqualified full path of the line.
5.2.3.25 SQL database access
Key: sqlDataSource
Type: String
Valid for: Master server
Clearing pool
Description: Access to the SQL server to store the change notifications and the objects changed
on the lines (EDM database).
This setting does not refer to the SIPLACE Pro database.
