1. Overview
It is always necessary to compensate for the placement offset error after the machine has been trans-
ported or if you suspect that the offset is too large. For this purpose, glass components are placed onto
an offset measuring plate (also made of glass) incorporating a vernier scale. Following placement, the
offset of the pin structure on the glass components is read off against this scale in the x and y planes
along all four edges using a non-distorting microscope (magnification factor 10x). The average of the
measured values is calculated (arithmetic mean). This average is programmed into the machine data.
Consequently, it is possible to compensate for the offset error during placement.
Note
The measurement procedure and the means by which the measured values are evaluated differ in
various machine types. Please note the appropriate sections in this manual.
1.1 Safety Information
Danger !!!
The placement machines of the SIPLACE family are supplied with line voltage of 3 x 400V
Ö
10%,
50/60 Hz. Parts of the system therefore carry dangerous voltages even when it is switched off at the
main switch. Improper use of these machines can therefore lead to fatality or serious injury as well as
considerable damage.
Please comply with accident prevention legislation (in particular EN 60204).
If you do not comply with this, touching live parts can cause death or serious injury.

1.2 Definitions
Qualified or adequately trained personnel:
People familiar with the installation, running and servicing of the placement machine and its associated
equipment and who have the appropriate qualifications, such as:
•
Training or instruction in how to switch on and off, isolate, ground or mark circuits and system com-
ponents in accordance with standard safety practices, and the authorization to do so
•
Training or instruction in how to maintain and use appropriate safety equipment in accordance with
standard safety practices
•
Training in first aid
