1. Introduction
In comparison with existing feeders, the W08b(c), W04b feeder has a shorter gap between the tape
indexing sprocket and the pickup position, and is designed to improve the pickup accuracy.
This prevents part loading errors because the image of the part package is automatically identified
by the machine.
This manual provides procedures for using the W08b(c), W04b feeder.
2. Required Items
The following items are necessary to use the W08b(c), W04b feeder.
Required units
FIFW04b (Fuji Intelligent Feeder W04b)
FIFW08b (Fuji Intelligent Feeder W08b)
FIFW08c (Fuji Intelligent Feeder W08c)
Required software
• NXT software V5.07 and later
• Fuji Flexa V4.3.0 and later
Cautions
Update the spec data in Job Builder when using Fuji Intelligent feeders W04b (FIFW04b).
The dip switch for tape type changeover cannot be used from NXT V5.07 and later.

3. Using the W08b(c), W04b Feeder
The pickup height is different for paper tape and emboss tape with the W08b(c), W04b feeder.
Therefore, the package type of the tape parts is identified automatically and the part height adjusted
accordingly.
3.1 Automatic identification of tape part package type
Feeder resupply guidance
Setup the parts on the feeder according to the guidance.
The following is displayed in the width field.
[8]: 8 mm feeder (paper, emboss)
[8PB]: 8 mm feeder (black flat tape)
The machine automatically identifies the type of package type of the part set at the feeder,
determines the suitable pickup height for the tape type, and performs production. Specify the job as
shown below to enable automatic identification.
Specify [Yes] for the [Package Data] – [Package Process] – [Check Type with Vision] setting.
