1.4 Safety Instructions
DANGER
The machines of the SIPLACE series are supplied with 3 x 400V 10%, 50/60 Hz main power voltage.
Parts of the machine will therefore be conducting dangerous voltages even when the main switch is
switched off. Tampering with these machines could have fatal results or lead to severe injury and also
to considerable damage to property.
You must comply with the relevant accident prevention and VDE regulations (particularly EN 60204)
and all the safety regulations in your country.
Only service engineers trained at Siemens are permitted to carry out this retrofitting work.
Before beginning retrofitting, switch off the main switch and pull out the main power plug. Make sure
that the machine cannot be switched on again.
If you fail to observe these precautions, touching live parts may result in death or serious injury.
1.4.1 Definitions
Qualified or adequately trained personnel:
Refers to persons who are familiar with the installation, operation and maintenance of the placement
machine and supplementary equipment and who have the corresponding qualifications, such as:
• Training or instruction and authorization to switch on and off, isolate, ground or label circuits and parts
of the machine in accordance with safety standards
• Training or instruction in accordance with safety standards in the care and use of the appropriate
safety equipment
• Training in first aid
CAUTION
as defined in these retrofitting instructions means that minor injury or damage to property can occur if
the caution note is not observed.
NOTE
as defined in these retrofitting instructions is important information on the product or that part of the
instructions to which particular attention is to be drawn.

• Remove the feeders from the components table on the relevant side of the machine and move the
components table out of the machine.
• On machines 1 to 50, remove the right-hand buffer for the components table (see figure 2).
• Remove the used tape guide channel.
Please note
Machines 1 to 50 have a metal rail (support for the used tape guide channel) in place of the cast iron
rail.
• Remove the cast iron or metal rail (see figure 2).
• Fit the tape guide channel and, on all the machines, place the edge protector on the edge of the tape
guide channel in order to prevent damage to the connecting cable (see figure 2).
Please note
The support holder is already fitted in machines supplied after week 16/95.
• Attach the compressed air supply to the valve on the nozzle changer.
• Attach connecting cable Y0553-W2 or Y0553-W1 to the nozzle changer control board (see figure 3).
