1 Introduction
This manual is a handbook for the ‘Head Verification’ feature which can be used to verify the func-
tional condition of placement heads inside (online) and outside (offline) the machine.
The Online Head Verification is available with station SW 708.0 supporting the verification of
placement heads directly in the machine.
The Offline Head Verification requires the use of the Head Care Station (HCS) where place-
ment heads can be installed in the same way as on the machine.
The following placement heads can be verified:
C&P20
C&P20 A
C&P20 M
C&P20 P
C&P20 M2
CPP
CPP M
TH (Pick&Place module)
Types of measurements
A head verification process includes a number of functional tests which can be executed individu-
ally or as a whole sequence to verify a placement head and its sub-units. These functional tests
vary depending on the head to be verified:
Condition of the vacuum system and its sub-units
Movement of DP and Z-axis bearings
Wear on bearings / tolerances
Check of the component sensor
Check of the z-axis light barrier
Check of the nozzle seating
Positioning accuracy of DP drives
Placement force verification
At the end of the verification process, all results are summarized in a test report which can also be
saved to a PDF file. These results provide feedback about the technical state of the head, enabling
a technician to decide on the measures to be taken, for example:
Performing additional maintenance
Replacement of wear/spare parts
Replacement of the head
