Safety Instructions Important Notes on Operational Safety
12 User Manual X Feeder Modules SIPLACE Family
2.1.2.1 General
The operational safety of the module can only be guaranteed by correct usage with the SIPLACE
station and if the respective operating, service, maintenance and settings guides are observed and
adhered to.
Observe the safety regulations specified in the manuals.
Furthermore, always follow any safety regulations specific to your country.
Replace incorrectly attached, missing or illegible warning, prohibition or information signs immediate-
ly. Clean the labels and signs as described in section "2.2.1 Warning, Prohibition and Cautionary La-
bels" [ ➙ 15].
Module covers which require tools to remove them may only be removed by specifically authorized
personnel.
If it is necessary to work on the machine and you do not have adequately trained personnel within
your operation, always call in a SIPLACE service engineer.
SIPLACE will not accept liability for any damage or consequential damage that is the result of incor-
rect work!
If significant hazardous situations are identified during operation of the module, including its inter-
relationship with the SIPLACE station, the company operating the machine must immediately notify
the manufacturer in writing so that appropriate action can be taken to reduce the potential danger.
2.1.2.2 Safety of Operators and Other Persons
The operational safety can only be guaranteed by prescribed usage of the module and observance
of the operating, service and maintenance manuals.
Do not make modifications to the . Never bridge protective switches or remove protective devices.
Machine operators may only carry out work for which they have been adequately trained and with
which they are totally familiar!
Do not open the protective door on the module or any protective covers on the SIPLACE station if
you are not totally familiar with the use and functioning of these machines! The protective doors on
the module and the protective covers on the SIPLACE station may only be opened if you are request-
ed to do so in the operating manual, in another module guide or on the screen of the station computer
- for the job at hand - or if the machine has been switched off.
NEVER place your head or arms in the axis traveling range while the module/SIPLACE station is
switched on!
Never make changes, however minor, unless you are totally aware of the effect they will have on the
overall functioning of the system.
The stations and station extensions must always be set up, retooled and maintained by appropriately
trained personnel!
Only use original spare parts and authorized accessories of SIPLACE. The use of other parts will
affect safety and can invalidate the liability for any consequential damage.
For your own safety, wear work clothes that conform to the guidelines of the professional association,
i.e. no wide sleeves etc.
Reduce the risks by not wearing scarves, chains or ties at your work post.
People with long hair must wear a protective head covering.
Instruct personnel about the significance and effects if warnings are not observed.

2.1.2.3 Safety of Plant and Equipment
Never make changes, however minor, unless you are totally aware of the effect they will have on the
overall functioning of the system.
The stations must always be set up, retooled and maintained by appropriately trained personnel.
Only use original spare parts and authorized accessories of SIPLACE. The use of other parts will
affect safety and will invalidate the liability for any consequential damage.
Do not make modifications to the safety equipment. Never bridge protective switches or remove pro-
tective devices.
2.1.3 Qualified Personnel
Qualified or adequately trained personnel means that these people are familiar with the setting up, op-
eration and maintenance of placement machines and add-on devices and are suitably qualified, e.g.
Have been trained, instructed or authorized to switch on and off, isolate, earth and identify electrical
circuits and system components in accordance with normal safety standards.
Have been trained or instructed in the upkeep and use of appropriate safety equipment in accord-
ance with normal safety standards.
Have received first aid training.
DANGER
The module is electrically driven. When electrical devices are in use, certain parts carry
dangerous voltage levels!
Some assemblies inside the module are still live when the main switch is turned off and will
remain so until the module is disconnected from the power supply. Other electrical compo-
nents may have residual voltages. Wait for this to be discharged after the main switch has
been set to OFF. These components are all labeled appropriately.
Before performing service work or certain maintenance tasks, switch the module off at the
main switch and disconnect the power cable form the power supply.
DANGER
In spite of all the safety precautions taken by the manufacturer, failure to use the module as
prescribed or incorrect maintenance, setting or service procedures can result in severe physical
injury (e.g. from lifting axis) and/or considerable damage to property. Safe operation of the
module and the safe performance of all work to the module requires that the operation/the work
is performed by appropriately qualified personnel in observance of all warnings.
Certain tasks performed on the machine (e.g. maintenance, setting up and service work) re-
quires training that goes beyond the scope of this manual.

2.1.4 Safety Instructions for Working with Strong Magnetic Fields
2.1.5 Safety Instructions for the Power Supply
This means that some parts of the system carry potentially lethal voltages - even when switched off
at the main power switch.
Incorrect handling of the placement system can therefore result in death, severe injury or consider-
able damage to equipment.
Measurements and repairs must always be carried out by appropriately qualified personnel.
Always follow the applicable accident prevention and DIN regulations (particularly DIN EN 60 204,
part 1) or the regulations specific to your country.
Before starting any repairs, switch off at the main switch and disconnect the placement system from
the main power supply.
Always secure the machine against unauthorized reactivation. If these instructions are not followed,
it is possible to touch live parts, which could result in death or severe injury.
Replacing Modules
End all placement operations on the machine.
Shut down the Windows operating system correctly, otherwise problems may occur when restarting
or data may be lost.
Switch the machine off at the main switch.
Disconnect the machine from the main power supply.
Switch off the machine and attach warnings signs to indicate that service work is in progress.
DANGER
STRONG MAGNETIC FIELDS
Fatal hazard: persons with active implants (e.g. pacemakers, defibrillators, insulin pumps etc.)
are at risk from strong permanent magnetic fields inside the machine.
Persons are risk should avoid the immediate vicinity of the machine.
CAUTION
DANGER OF CRUSHING
Danger of crushing for persons with passive metal implants (e.g. plates, screws).
Do not reach into the machine or lean over into it when the protective covers are open.
Do not bring any metal objects into the area.
CAUTION
STRONG MAGNETIC FIELDS
There is a risk that the strong magnetic fields could corrupt data on data media or check cards.
Keep sensitive data carriers away from the permanent magnets.
WARNING
Hazardous Voltages!
The machine is supplied with 3 x 400 V~ (or 3 x 204 V~ / 3 x 230 V~ / 3 x 380 V~ / 3 x 415 V~)
± 5 %, 50/60 Hz mains voltage.
Observe the safety instructions in the operating manual during all service work!
