3 Installing SIPLACE Explorer

There are two different types of installation for SIPLACE Explorer 2.11: 3

– Initial installation of SIPLACE Explorer 2.11

Choose this option if you do not yet have a version of SIPLACE Explorer installed on your

system. Follow the instructions at “Initial Installation of SIPLACE Explorer 2.11” on page 23.

– Update installation of SIPLACE Explorer 2.11. Choose this option if you already have an

executable version of SIPLACE Explorer 2.0 - 2.10 installed on your system. Follow the

instructions at “Update Installation of SIPLACE Explorer 2.11” on page 27.

NOTE

To ensure a reliable data quality from SIPLACE Explorer, make sure that the versions of all

supported data sources match the version of SIPLACE Explorer installed. This means, that you

need to update the supported data sources with an initial or upgrade installation of SIPLACE

Explorer. 3

3.1 Initial Installation of SIPLACE Explorer 2.11

The software components required for SIPLACE Explorer 2.11 can be found on the SIPLACE

Explorer installation CD and on the Support Media DVD. 3

There are three different installation options for SIPLACE Explorer V2.11: 3

– SIPLACE Explorer V.2.11 Runtime Environment

– SIPLACE Explorer V.2.11 Factory Configuration Utility

– SIPLACE Explorer V.2.11 Development Environment

3.1 Initial Installation of SIPLACE Explorer 2.11 Edition 10/2013 EN

Consider the following before beginning the installation: 3

NOTE

Before you install SIPLACE Explorer V2.11, make sure that SIPLACE License Manager 2.0

has been installed on your computer. Install this software component via the support media

DVD. 3

NOTE

Before you install SIPLACE Explorer V2.11, make sure that Java 1.6 has been installed on

your computer. Install this software component via the support media DVD. 3

NOTE

If you have an English operating system, the Asian language must be installed. Otherwise

SIPLACE Explorer can not display the tray menus correctly after you have set the user

interface to an Asian language. SIPLACE Explorer displays ???.

Proceed as described in “Adjusting the Regional Settings for Asian Languages” on page 39.3

WARNING

Do not install "SIPLACE Explorer V.2.11 Runtime Environment" and "SIPLACE Explorer

V.2.11 Development Environment" on the same computer. These two options will not run

parallel to one another. Before working with these options in succession, make sure you

know the steps for starting/terminating the respective option and observe these. 3
