2.5.2 Cleaning and greasing the U-axis linear guides

Press the emergency stop button.
The machine must be in emergency stop to
ensure safety during work.

Clean the U-axis linear guides.
1. Move the stage to one end of the U-axis
and wipe away the old grease and dirt
from the linear guides with a lint-free
cloth or paper towel (for clean room
use).
2. Move the stage to the opposite end of
the U-axis and wipe the linear guides
clean.

CAUTION
Wipe away the old grease and dirt in the grooves of the
linear guide rails.

Apply new grease to the linear
guides.
Use the grease gun to supply the specified
grease (NSL) to the linear guide grease
nipples. The grease nipple for each linear
guide is located under the stage (see photo
at right). There are two (left and right)
grease nipples per stage.

Remove excess grease.
After moving the stage back and forth a few
times along the U-axis, wipe away excess
grease.

2.6 Cleaning and greasing the W-axis
To clean and grease the W-axis ball screws and linear guides, follow the steps below. Prepare the specified
grease (NSL).

CAUTION
When handling grease or lubricant, read and follow the precautions listed in section 2.2.2, "Lubricating tools and
grease", in Chapter 1.
2.6.1 Cleaning and greasing the W-axis ball screws

Widen the conveyor width to the
maximum.
1. Press the [Unit] button and then select
the [Conveyor] tab.
2. Press the [Axis] button to open the "Move
Axis" screen and set the conveyor width
to the maximum width.

Press the emergency stop button.
The machine must be in emergency stop to
ensure safety during work.

Clean the W-axis ball screw.
Wipe away the old grease and dirt from the
ball screw with a lint-free cloth or paper
towel (for clean room use).

CAUTION
Wipe away the old grease and dirt in the lead groove
of the ball screw. Also check that no debris or residue
remains in the lead groove.

Apply new grease to the ball screw.
1. Uniformly apply the specified grease
(NSL) by hand to the entire ball screw.
2. Cancel emergency stop. Then move the
conveyor rails along the W-axis back and
forth by using the buttons on the "Move
Axis" screen, so that grease spreads over
the entire ball screw.

Remove excess grease.
Press the emergency stop button, then wipe
away excess grease from the ball screw and
the nut edges (outer and inner sides).
