Cause Countermeasure
Insufficient
main power
voltage
13
Voltage between P and N of the main
power converter dropped to below
the rated value when the servo
amplifier was ON.
1. Low power supply voltage.
2. Instantaneous power failure
occurred.
3. Insufficient power capacity:
Voltage dropped due to rush
current at power ON.
4. Open phase: Servo driver with
3-phase input spec. was operated
with single-phase power.
5. Faulty servo driver (circuit).
6. After the maintenance switch was
turned ON and a safety stop was
cleared, it was turned OFF
immediately.
7. After a safety cover was closed to
clear a safety stop, it was opened
immediately.
Measure the line voltage of the main power
input terminal [connector or terminal block
(L1, L2, L3)].
1. Change the power supply. Eliminate the
cause of failed electromagnetic contactor
and turn power back ON.
2. Set each phase of the power supply
correctly.
Contact our service department.
3. Increase the power capacity.
4. Connect each phase (L1, L2, L3) of the
power supply correctly.
Use L1 and L3 for a single phase
100/200V.
5. Replace the servo driver.
6. Turn power OFF once and turn it back
ON.
7. Turn power OFF once and turn it back
ON.
*Overcurrent 14
Current exceeding rated value of the
converter flowed.
1. Faulty servo driver (Defective
parts in the circuit or IGBT)
2. Short-circuit occurred in the motor
wire terminals U, V and W.
3. Ground fault occurred in the motor
wire.
4. The motor burnt out.
5. The motor wire in poor contact.
6. The relay of the dynamic of brake
welded by frequent ON/OFF of the
servo amplifier.
7. Mismatch between the motor and
servo amplifier.
1. Disconnect the motor cable and turn ON
the servo driver. If the same error
reoccurs immediately, replace the servo
amplifier with a new one (or the one that
is running properly).
2. Check the motor wires U, V and W for
short circuit.
Check for any whiskers on the connector
leads.
Make sure the motor wires are connected
properly
3. Check the insulation resistance between
the motor wire terminals U/V/W and the
grounding wire.
In case of an insulation failure, replace
the motor.
4. Check the resistance of the motor
between the lines for proper balance. If
not balanced, replace the motor.
5. Check the connector pins U, V and W at
the motor terminal. If loose or missing,
secure them in place.
6. Replace the servo driver. Do not turn
ON/OFF the servo to start/stop the
amplifier.
7. Check the product number (capacity) of
the motor/servo driver on the
nameplate and change to the motor
applicable to the servo driver.

*Overheat 15
Temperature of the radiator or power
elements in the servo driver
exceeded the rated values.
1. Ambient temperature of servo
driver is over the rated value.
2. Overloaded
1. Check the ambient temperature of the
servo driver and remedy the cooling
conditions.
2. Increase the servo driver/motor
capacity.
Increase the acceleration/deceleration
time.
Reduce load.
Overload 16
If the torque command value
exceeds the overload level, overload
will result based on the time limit
characteristics to be described later.
1. The unit was activated for a long
time with heavy load and the
effective torque exceeded the
rated torque.
2. Oscillation or hunting occurred due
to improper adjustment of gain.
3. Improper or broken motor wiring
4. Collided with the mechanical unit
or the mechanical unit was
sluggish suddenly. The mechanical
unit became complicated.
5. Motor is driven with the
electromagnetic brake.
6. Motor cable misconnected to
another axis when multiple units
are connected.
1. Increase the servo driver/motor
capacity. Increase the capacity of the
Increase the acceleration/ deceleration
time or reduce the load.
2. Contact our service department.
3.Connect the wiring of the motor
according to the wiring diagrams.
Replace the cable.
For CN X2, connect the cables in the
order of black (W), white (V) and red (U)
from the bottom.
4. Correct the distortion of machine.
Reduce load.
5. Measure the voltage at the
electromagnetic brake terminal.
Release the electromagnetic brake.
6. Perform wiring properly so that the motor
cable and encoder cable may be
connected one-one-one to the amplifier.
*Regeneration
overload
18
The regenerative energy exceeded
the processing capacity of the
regenerative resistor.
1. Regenerative in deceleration due
to large inertia caused the
converter voltage to rise. Also,
insufficient absorption of
regenerative resistance energy
further raised the voltage.
2. The regenerative energy cannot be
absorbed within the prescribed
deceleration time because of high
number of motor rotations.
1. Increase the regenerative processing
capacity, by changing to a motor/
driver of larger capacity or by
providing an external regenerative
resistor.
2. Reduce the regenerative energy during
deceleration, by decreasing the motor
rotations or by prolonging the
deceleration time, etc.

*Encoder
communi-
cation error
21
Communication between the encoder
and servo amplifier was interrupted
at a certain count and breaking
detection function activated.
Encoder
communi-
cation data
error
23
Data from the encoder caused
communication error. (Mainly due to
noise in the data) Although the data
was received successfully, the
contents of data were abnormal.
Connect the encoder cable according to
the wiring diagram.
Reconnect the connector pins correctly.
Connect the encoder cable to the CN X6
connector. (Check if the connector is not
connected to the CNX7 connector for the
external scale.)
Secure the power supply voltage 5V
DC±5% (4.75 to 5.25V) of the encoder.
Use care especially when the encoder
cable is long.
Separate the motor cable from the
encoder cable if connected together.
Excessive
positional
deviation
24
Positional deviation pulse exceeded
the set value.
1. The motor failed to follow the
movement of command.
1. Check if the motor rotates according to
the position command.
Check the torque monitor for saturated
output torque. Adjust the gain. Set
SV.Pr5E (1st torque limit setting) to the
maximum value. Connect the encoder
according to the wiring diagram. Increase
the acceleration/ deceleration time and
lighten the load to decrease the speed.
Overspeed 26
Motor rotating speed exceeded the
set value .
Check for any excessive speed
command issued.
Deviation
counter
overflow
29
Deviation counter exceeded 2
27
(134217728).
Contact our service department.
Software limit
34
The motor exceeded the allowable
movable range set by the SV.Pr26
(Software limit setting) for the
position command input range.
1. The gain is not matched.
1. Contact our service department.
*EEPROM
parameter
error
36
When reading the data from the
EEPROM at power ON, the
parameter save area data was found
to be destroyed.
Set all parameters again.
If the error persists, the EEPROM may
be defective. Replace the servo amplifier.
Contact our service department.
*EEPROM
check code
error
37
When reading the data from the
EEPROM at power ON, the
EEPROM write check data was
found to be destroyed.
Replace the servo driver because it may
be faulty.
Contact our service department.
Emergency
stop input
error
39
When the emergency stop input
(EMG-STP: CN X5 2 pin) is turned
OFF, the system takes it as an error
and trip occurs.
Check for any abnormality in the switch
power or wires connected to the
emergency stop input.
Check that the emergency stop input (CN
X5 2 pin) is turned ON.
Check that the rising time of the control
signal wire (12 to 24V DC) at power ON
is not longer than the one for the servo
driver.
*Encoder Z
phase error
48
Missing pulses of serial encoder
Z-phase were detected. (2500 [p/r]
5).
Replace the servomotor.
*Encoder CS
signal error
49
CS signal logic error of serial
encoder was detected. (2500 [p/r] 5)
Encoder is at fault.
Replace the servomotor.
