1 Introduction
1.1 Module Description
The Single Slot Interface (referred to as SSI in this document) enables you to operate X feeder
modules outside a placement machine or a pre-setup area and to troubleshoot in the vicinity of the
line. The SSI is designed for use as a 1 track pre-setup area with a connection to the ASM Setup
Center.
1.1.1 Typeplate and Serial Number
The typeplate with the serial number is located on the ground plate of the SSI frame (under the
EDIF).

1.1.4 Correct Usage
The product may only be used for its intended purposes as described in the catalogs and technical
descriptions, meaning for operation and troubleshooting of X feeder modules outside the place-
ment machine or a pre-setup area and only with the third-party equipment and components recom-
mended or permitted by ASM Assembly Systems GmbH & Co. KG.
Any other use is deemed to be incorrect and not as prescribed.
In the case of incorrect usage, ASMAssembly SystemsGmbH&Co.KG will not assume liability
for any damage which occurs and will not guarantee the correct and proper function of machine
components.
Prescribed or correct usage includes the observance of all the instructions in this user guide.
The proper and safe operation of the product requires correct transportation, storage, installation
and assembly, plus careful, accurate utilization and servicing.
1.1.5 Incorrect Usage
Failure to use the product as prescribed can result in both danger to life and limb and material
damage. For this reason, non-prescribed usage is prohibited. If the product is not used as pre-
scribed, ASM Assembly Systems GmbH & Co. KG will not accept liability for any damage that may
occur and will not guarantee that the components will work properly and without problems.
Non-prescribed use of the module includes the following examples:
The use of feeder modules that do not meet the permitted specification.
Use of unauthorized accessories and additional modules.
Use of the module by unqualified personnel.

and will invalidate the liability for any consequential damage.
1.2 Important Notes about this Manual
1.2.1 Contents and Filing of this Manual
This User Manual contains basic information that must be observed when setting up, operating and
maintaining the module. The service engineers, qualified staff, operators and users must therefore
read it before commencing installation and commissioning. The instructions must be kept perman-
ently accessible wherever the module is used.
In addition, the user must ensure that the employees have fully understood the contents of the user
manual.
