If there are no chips on the belt:
This symptom indicates that chips have become jammed in the bushing at the bottom of
the hopper.
1. Since this problem is caused by chips having settled in such a way as to prevent
the proper action of the outer pipe, it can be solved by manually pushing the pipe
upward as shown in the figure below. The outer pipe should then move smoothly
in response to operation of the feed lever.
2. Manually operate the feed lever to confirm that parts are smoothly supplied as far
as the pickup area.
Push outer pipe upward.

Replacing the Hopper String
The shutter in the hopper is operated by means of a nylon string. If the string breaks or comes loose, it
should be repaired or replaced as shown below.
Procedure
1. Insert one end of the string into the slit in the shutter.
2. Pass the other end of the string upward through the slit in the plate and around
the retainer bolt, then back down through the slit in the plate. Insert this end of the
string into the slit in the shutter.
3. Move the slider forward as far as it will go, then adjust the string so there is a gap
of about 1 mm between the upper edge of the shutter and the upper limit of the
slit in the divider. Tighten the retainer screw to secure the string in this position.
4. Make sure the shutter moves smoothly up and down along the slit in the divider.
