1.1.3 Use as prescribed
WARNING
The product must only be used for the applications specified in the catalogs and technical descriptions, and
then only in conjunction with non-Siemens devices and components that have been approved by Siemens.
For the product to operate correctly and reliably, it must have been transported, stored, erected and assem-
bled correctly and must be operated and maintained with care.
1.1.4 Operational safety
WARNING
In order to assure operational safety the following points must be observed without fail:
- NEVER open one of the two protective covers if you are not totally familiar with the sequence and function-
ing of the machine. Do not open the protective covers during operation unless you are told to do so in this
User Manual or in the station software dialog.
- The key switch must only be unlocked by trained and qualified personnel.
Do not release the key switch during operation unless you are told to do so in this User Manual or in the
station software dialog.
- Never bring your head or arms into the travel area of the gantry when a station is switched on!
- No modifications of any type whatsoever may be made where it is not absolutely clear what effect they
would have on the functioning of the unit as a whole!
- The stations may only be adjusted, converted or maintained by personnel trained in this!
- Only use original spare parts and authorized accessories from Siemens AG. Using other parts will impair
safety and may cancel any liability of Siemens AG for the consequences.
- The operating safety of the SMD placement machines can only be guaranteed when the SMD placement
machines are used properly and for the purpose intended and when the provisions of the user’s manual
are complied with.
- The machine key and the key for the key-operated switch must be kept so that only qualified personnel
have access to them!
- If it is necessary to work on the machine and you do not have enough trained personnel available in your
plant, always call in a service technician from Siemens AG. Siemens AG will not accept any claims for
damage or consequential damage that is the result of incorrect work.
- Machine operators must only carry out work for which they have been adequately trained and with which
they are totally familiar.
- You must also follow any special safety regulations applicable in your own country.

DANGER
This machine is electrically powered. When electrical equipment is being used, certain parts must of necessity
be live with dangerous voltages!
Always switch off the automatic placement system at the main switch and isolate it from the power supply
before carrying out any work on live parts.
Failure to comply with all instructions may result in serious injury, death and/or considerable damage to
property!
WARNING
Despite all of the safety measures provided by the manufacturer severe injuries to person (e.g. by the gantry)
and/or considerable material damage can occur if the machine is improperly operated! Safe operation of the
machine presupposes that the machine is operated properly by qualified personnel with all warning notes
being observed! Certain work on the machine (e.g. setting-up and adjustment) demand training which goes
beyond the contents of this operating manual.

The optical range of the IC and flip-chip camera conforms to laser class 1, provided that the camera is perma-
nently fixed in the automatic placement system and that the protective covers are closed (EN 60825-1 and
IEC 825).
