DANGER
The doors in the machine base are only to be opened by personnel authorized to do so!
Check the position of the option on the lifting table (see Section 5.1, subitem: "on the option:").
There must be assurance that the PCB is optimally drawn against the suction cups and the
vacuum tooling must be outside admissible ranges of disturbances.
Connect the "vacuum tooling" to the conveyor control TSP 100 (item no. 00329219) or TSP
200/200M (00349302 / 00359302).
WARNING
Not until this electrical connection is established is it no longer possible to adjust the width. If this
electrical connection is not made and the automatic width adjustment unit is triggered in this con-
dition, the machine will be damaged (see Section 5.2)!
Connect the 5.5 bar compressed air branch inside the machine to the vacuum generator of the
vacuum tooling (see Fig. 3 - 1).
When the vacuum tooling has manual shut-off cocks, the vacuum branches must be closed or
opened in accordance with the length of the PCB to be populated (see Fig. 3 - 1).
NOTE:
All of the suction cups of vacuum branches which are switched on must be completely covered.
If the vacuum is to be maintained, suction cups not covered by the PCB are not to draw any air!.
Place the stopper in the middle of the conveyor by width (= middle of the PCB).
The positioning range of the stopper is restricted by the opening in the tool of the vacuum too-
ling.
Make certain that the vacuum plate is clean and free of foreign bodies, such as components
(see "Maintenance", section Section 9).

NOTE
Error message 232 can be triggered by either errors on the part of the option "vacuum tooling" or
by errors during the lifting table sequence itself.
As in the standard transport sequence, errors during the transport sequence for the PCB or the
check for presence trigger the appropriate error messages.

NOTE:
This error can not be caused by the vacuum tooling.
NOTE:
The lifting table does not move down until the time set for the reduction of the vacuum has elap-
sed.
If the waiting time for the lifting table is exceeded (about 3 sec), this results in a time-out with
error message no. 232.
Situation 1: "Lifting table d i d actually move down" (visual inspection):
There is an error in the lifting table sequence which does not involve the option
-> Further troubleshooting: see service manual.
±
Situation 2: "Lifting table did n o t move down" (visual inspection):
NOTE:
First check for one of the following error situations involving the option “vacuum tooling”. If
not, the error is lies with the lifting table (signal: “Lifting table down” is not issued)-> Further
troubleshooting, see service manual.
Time interval for “Reduce vacuum” too long / set wrong -> Set time interval (setting to be
made only by persons especially trained for this work by Siemens (see section 4).
Wiring error the drive "vacuum tooling" (after problem resolution work) -> Check wiring and
correct problem or notify Siemens SMD Service.
Drive faulty -> Exchange appropriate “Drive for vacuum tooling” (see “Spare Parts”) ->

Install wiring with correct allocation -> Set time interval (setting to be made only be persons
especially instructed for this work by Siemens, see section 4).
Some other electrical interruption inside machine base -> Notice Siemens SMD Service.

NOTE:
Absence of or insufficient vacuum pressure to hold the PCB via “vacuum tooling” may result in a
deviation in the placement pattern (components are in an undefined position or are absent).
±
Vacuum not present
Interface connector for the option is not plugged in. -> Plug it in.
Coding of option vacuum tooling is not connected.
WARNING
Do not actuate the width adjustment if the interface connector in (see Section 5.2)!
5.5 bar compressed air on option is not connected. -> Connect to option’s vacuum genera-
tor (see Fig. 3 - 1).
5.5 bar compressed air branch between compressed air unit and option is interrupted
-> Check hose
-> Check whether the compressed air on the option’s (manual) shut-off cock is switched off
and switch it on if applicable.
If 5.5 bar compressed air on compressed air unit is shut off too long -> Compressed air sen-
sor of the compressed air unit may be damaged.
Solenoid valve (on the option’s bottom plate) does not switch -> Pull out interface connector
(allocation of connector: see section 9) -> Isolate interruption in “vacuum tooling”. Possible
causes are:
- Poor contact (loose contact) of interface connector -> Make certain that securely
seated -> If this cannot be done, notify Siemens SMD Service.
- Faulty solenoid valve -> Exchange solenoid valve (Art. No. see Section 8).
- Wiring error (after exchange) on the assembly “Drive of vacuum tooling” -> Check
wiring and correct.
- Fault in the appropriate drive -> Exchange drive -> Correct the allocation of the
wiring -> Set time interval (setting to be made only by persons especially trained for
