1.2 Docking station serial number Edition 02/2018

– The fault-free and safe operation of the product requires proper storage, transportation, cor-

rect installation, assembly and initial start-up plus careful use, maintenance and service by

sufficiently qualified personnel, which have been authorized by the manufacturer to perform

the work concerned, after being trained as required.

– The use as prescribed also includes the observance of all instructions in the installation man-

ual, user manual and, primarily, in the user manual for the relevant SIPLACE placement ma-

chines, as the docking station is connected to the placement machine via the signaling and

mechanical systems, thereby making it mandatory for personnel to know about the interaction

of these machines and to act accordingly.

– In addition, observe the interface and signaling procedure instructions in the user manuals of

any other modules which are connected.

– The contents of the above mentioned installation and user manuals for the docking station

and of the user manual for the SIPLACE placement machine and the user manuals of any

other modules/machines connected must be understood and observed in full so that the re-

quirements for initial start-up/switching on of the docking station and therefore for "use as pre-

scribed" are fulfilled.

In the event of non-prescribed use, the manufacturer will not accept liability for any damage or

injuries occurring and shall not provide warranty cover for fault-free and proper functioning of the

docking station.

The product may only be used for the areas of application specified in the catalogues and techni-

cal descriptions i.e. for the placement of SMD components and may only be used together with

the third party devices and components recommended or approved by ASM Assembly Systems

GmbH & Co. KG. Use for a different or extended purpose is not prescribed.

In the case of incorrect usage, ASM Assembly Systems GmbH & Co. KG will not assume liability

for any damage which occurs and will not guarantee the correct and proper function of machine

components.

Use as prescribed also includes compliance with all the instructions in the user manual.

For the product to operate correctly and reliably, it must have been transported, stored, erected

and assembled correctly and must be operated and maintained with care.

1.2.3 Failure to use as prescribed

Failure to use the product as prescribed can result in both danger to life and limb and material

damage. For this reason, used other than as prescribed is expressly prohibited. In the case of in-

correct usage,ASM Assembly Systems GmbH & Co. KG will not assume liability for any damage

which occurs and will not guarantee the correct and proper function of machine components.

Use of the machine other than as prescribed includes, for example

– Usage for other purposes than those defined in the "use as prescribed", including the use of

printed circuit boards and components other than those included in the specifications.

– The transportation, installation and connection to power (electrical and/or pneumatic) plus the

connection to interfaces to the SIPLACE placement machine or other devices in installation,

connection and operating conditions other than those defined in the user manual and instal-

lation manual.

– The electrical connection of the docking station to the operating voltage, if the installation has

not been completed and inspected.

– Use of unauthorized spare parts, accessories and additional modules.

– Use of the docking station and the SIPLACE placement machine plus execution of work by

insufficiently trained and unqualified personnel.

– The execution of service and maintenance work by personnel not qualified for it or the perfor-

mance of work which exceeds that described in the relevant documentation.

– The removal of covers by personnel not qualified to do so.

– The operation of the docking station and/or the SIPLACE placement machines if the safety

equipment has been manipulated or removed.

– The nonobservance of the instructions in the user manual for the docking station or the in-

structions for additional work in the maintenance, service and installation manuals for the

docking station.

– The nonobservance of the instructions in the user manual for the relevant placement machine

or the user manual for other machines adjacent to the docking station , this therefore being

an operation of the docking station without full knowledge of how the individual machines in-

teract.

– Use of component feeder modules that have not been approved.

– Use of wet cleansing tissues

1.2.4 Important information about environmentally-friendly disposal

SIPLACE machines are preferably manufactured using materials and parts that can be easily sep-

arated and disposed of in an environmentally-friendly way.

1.2.5 Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC)

The docking stations are designed and tested for professional use in industrial applications. Elec-

tromagnetic compatibility in terms of the emission of interference cannot be guaranteed in any

other environment.

1.3 Important notes on the user manual

1.3.1 Contents and filing of the user manual

This user manual contains basic information that must be observed during set up, operation and

maintenance. The service engineers, qualified staff, operators and users plus system owner must

therefore read it before commencing installation and commissioning. The instructions must be

kept permanently accessible where the machine is used.

In addition, the user must ensure that the employees have fully understood the contents of the

user manual.

Correct and environmentally-friendly disposal by the operator

The owner of the system has sole responsibility for the proper environmentally-friendly

disposal of machines, working materials, consumables and wear parts.

 Please observe your national statutory provisions for waste disposal and environ-

mental protection.

The use of other parts will affect safety and will invalidate the liability for any consequen-

tial damage.
