CHAPTER 5 MACHINE PC
INTRODUCTION The Machine PC Enclosure houses the electronics cards and devices used to
control machine functions such as running the operator interface (the MMI),
interfacing with the NextMove multi-axis controller and communicating with
peripheral devices.
Elements The main elements of the machine PC enclosure are:
• PCA 6180 Single Board Computer (SBC) Processor Card
• NextMove 8-Axis Control Card
• Vision Card (in two positions Gold Camera option only)
• Vision PC Adaptor Card
• 4 Channel RS232 Comms Card (not fitted in all machines)
• PCIB 40 (AutoFlex Tooling Option)
• Backplane
• Hard Disk Drive (HDD)
• Floppy Disk Drive (FDD)
• CD ROM Drive
• Power Supply Unit
Card Position Card slots in the enclosure are numbered according to the slot nomenclature
on the PC backplane.
Card Configuration Jumper links fitted to cards configure them to the required function. The required
link connections are illustrated for each card.

ANTI-STATIC HANDLING.
Standard precautions must be adhered to when
handling electronic cards and configuring and inserting into the enclo-
sures.
