→ Insert the CD 'MC – BIOS Settings CPU086'.
→ Reboot the machine controller and follow the BIOS setting instructions.
→ Reboot the machine controller and deactivate the USB interface again (see section
4.7.1.4).
→ Restore the initial configuration (see section 4.7.1.5).
4.7.3 Manual installation of the machine controller software
The following step can be omitted if the station software is installed. (The MC Distributor is called
during the course of the station software installation.)
→ Open the Start menu and select Programs Æ Siplace Æ MC Distributor. The installation is
started.
→ Follow the instructions on screen.
Note:
To convert the machine data manually from SR 601.01 to SR 601.03 or SR 601.03 SP4, the
software package has to be installed.
To install it, activate the option Installing SW-Package at the MC in the MC Distributor.

4.8 BIOS setup for station computers with a CPU086 (SIPLACE X-
series)

4.8.1 Setup page "Standard CMOS Setup"
This option is used to enter basic information about the computer hardware, for setting the system
clock and for defining error handling on system startup.
Note:
Loading the Fail Safe or Optimized Defaults modifies the entries for Drive A and B, Video and Halt On!
The IDE drives and memory sizes are entered automatically.
4.8.1.1 Date and Time
Mark the relevant value with the cursor and use the <Page up>/<Page down> or <+>/<-> keys to
change the value.

¾ IDE Secondary Slave
The names of all IDE devices detected in the system are entered here.
The IDE ports integrated in the CPU module make a primary and secondary channel available for
connecting up to 4 IDE hard disks or other IDE devices.
Each channel supports up to two IDE devices (Master and Slave).
If you select one of the four ports, you are taken to a submenu where the selections and settings
described below are available.
4.8.1.2 IDE HDD Autodetection
If you press Return, the system searches for an IDE device on the corresponding channel.

4.8.1.3 IDE Primary/Secondary Master/Slave
Auto The device parameters are automatically determined when the system is
started.
Manual The device parameters can be entered by hand (only in Access Mode CHS).
None No IDE device has been connected or a connected device is to be ignored.
Auto is set by default.
4.8.1.4 Access Mode
Auto The device parameters are automatically determined when the system is
started.
LBA Hard disks > 528MB which support Logic Block Addressing mode (LBA).
CHS Hard disks < 528MB
Large Hard disks > 528MB which do not support Logic Block Addressing mode
(LBA).
Auto is set by default.
If Manual and CHS are selected for the device, the disk parameters can be entered.

4.8.1.5 Drive A / Drive B
Drive A: Set the format of floppy drive A:

720K, 3.5 in.; 1.44M, 3.5 in.;
2.88M, 3.5 in.
Drive B: Set the format of floppy drive B: None, 360K, 5.25 in.; 1.2M,
5.25 in.;
720K, 3.5 in.; 1.44M, 3.5 in.;
2.88M, 3.5 in.
For drive A: None is set for fail-safe default and 1.44M, 3.5in. for optimized default. For drive B: None applies in both
cases
Neither item is available with Legacy Free.
