Introduction
This operating manual is an instruction guide or reference work for setting up and operating the Waf-
flepack Changer Type 5 (WPC5) and the Wafflepack Changer Type 6 (WPC6).
The WPC5 and WPC6 are basically identical. However the WPC6 is equipped with an additional Non-
Stop Module. The Non-Stop Module allows to refill the waffle pack tray during operation without stopping
the machine.

The WPC5/WPC6 does not require the complete width of one location. The remaining changeover table
space has a capacity of 30 feeder locations.

1.2.1 General
General
The application of flatpack ICs is gaining increasing significance in the production of printed circuit
boards. These components are now used almost exclusively in waffle pack trays. However, the space
taken up by waffle pack trays is relatively large, compared to the density of components. In addition, the
low component capacity requires that the waffle pack trays are changed frequently. When trays are
changed manually, the production process is also interrupted
The use of a SIPLACE® Wafflepack Changer prevents unnecessary loss of time during saving and au-
tomatic changing of waffle pack trays. The individual, programmable access to up to 28 waffle pack tray
carriers also increases the range of components available.
The Wafflepack Changer makes flatpack ICs available in waffle pack trays, preventing unnecessary loss
of time during saving and automatic changing of waffle pack trays. The individual, programmable access
to up to 28 waffle pack trays also increases the range of components available.
The Wafflepack Changer has an integrated carriage, allowing it to be moved easily to other locations on
the line. It is supplied with the PCB conveyor height set for the customer-specific machine but can be
quickly and easily adapted to conveyor heights of 900, 930 and 950 mm.

1.2.1.1 Wafflepack Changer Principle
Wafflepack Changer Principle
The Waffle Pack Changer can save and automatically change up to 28 waffle pack tray carriers. The tray
carriers (levels) are numbered in ascending order (1 - 28).
The waffle pack tray storage unit moves in a vertical direction until the selected level is in the travel range
of the feed axis. This feed axis grips the tray carrier, removes it and transports it to the placement head
pickup area.
The following diagram shows the Wafflepack Changer principle.
