Installation Procedures
Introduction The 680SD pump is mounted directly to the Flex Dispenser Z -axis mounting plate
using the supplied Z-axis mounting adapter.

Procedure Reference Figure 7 when performing the following:
Attention
The needle can be installed with the pump on or off the machine.
1. Unscrew the needle holder nut from the bottom of the pump cartridge.
2. Drop a needle into the needle holder nut and thread the assembly onto the bot-
tom of the cartridge. Make sure that the needle is centered within the needle
holder nut. While turning the nut, a spring tension, created by the self-centering
action of the leadscrew, will be felt.
3. Tighten the needle holder nut (by hand only) until the assembly is tight.

Mounting the Pump
Procedure Attach the mounting bracket to the Z-axis plate as follows:
1. Loosen the four socket head cap screws that secure the Z-axis mount assembly
to the pump and remove the mount assembly. The socket head cap screws are
held captive by cross-point screws.
2. Align the bottom edge of the mount assembly as flush as possible with the bot-
tom edge of the A-axis mounting plate.
3. Using two socket head cap screws and washers, secure the mount assembly to
the Z-Axis mounting plate.
Attention
The lower edge of the pump body should always protrude past the bottom of the Z-
axis slide when in place.
4. Assemble the pump to the Z-axis assembly mount so that the two locating pins
on the mount engage in the pump body.
5. Secure the pump to the mount with four socket head cap screws.
