1 Overview
This installation manual provides instructions on installing the Windows XP Embedded SP2
(627B/827B) / Windows XP Embedded SP3 (I-Base) / Windows Embedded Standard (XPe
SP3) (627C/827C) operating system for the machine computer and (optionally) for the Vision
computer with station software:
– 605.03 SP1 version for D-series placement machines in one-computer operation
– 605.03 SP2 version for placement machines with computer type BoxPC 627C / 827C
– 605.x version for D-series placement machines with computer type I-Base
– as of the 704 version
It contains information on the scope of delivery and requirements for successful installation.
NOTICE
The Windows XP Embedded operating system is only used for new installations. On
upgrading to a higher station software version, there will be no operating system change
from Windows XP Professional to Windows XP Embedded (XPe SP3).

2 Scope of Delivery
A media standard package is available for installing the Windows XP Embedded SP2 / Windows
XP Embedded SP3 / Windows Embedded Standard (XPe SP3) operating system. It contains
different CDs/DVDs for the machine types.
CAUTION
It is imperative that the installation CD/DVD from the standard package for the relevant
computer type is used to install the operating system on a machine/Vision computer.
