3 Escalation
Reference: Your companies procedures
When presented with a problem it is important to understand the scope of your responsibility and to determine when it is
time to escalate the problem to a supervisor or to a ASM engineer.
Preparation
Discuss your own escalation procedures with your Instructor.
Some questions you may ask in your company are:
How long can I spend on a problem before I escalate?
What documentation should I refer to when diagnosing a problem?
Do I need to record any incidents that lead to machine downtime?
Which personnel are on my escalation list and in which order should they be contacted?
Demonstration
Draw an escalation chart on the following page. Show the names and extension/pager numbers for the individuals
responsible for production, process and machine issues if these are known by you at this time.
