Power Supply:

The VME chassis power supply accepts 120 VAC and output.
Voltages at the back plane are as follows:
+5 VDC (4.90 to 5.20)
+12 VDC (11.70 to 12.5)
-12 VDC (-11.7 to -12.5)

AC Voltage should be checked at the AC chassis, then at the VME power supply
and ATX power supply input. If not present, check VME input fuse.

Troubleshooting Table - VME System
Comments/Corrective Action
DC voltages from the power supply in the VME are adjustable through the cover
on the power supply.
Voltages at the back plane are as follows:
+5 VDC (5.00 to 5.10)
+12 VDC (12.00 to 12.20)
-12 VDC (-12.00 to -12.20)
Normal LED display is:
"Run" LED on PC-2 (Real Time Controller) illuminated at all times.
"BM" LED illuminated when PC-2 is communicating with the bus.
"Run" LED on PC-1 (embedded PC) blinking when computer is in use.
See the VME Chassis Electrical Diagram.
(Fuse is located inside the power entry module, accessed from rear of VME
chassis.) Input range for VME is 90 to 132 VAC.

2. Replace GMC board.
3. Troubleshoot the VME chassis. See
VME Troubleshooting Guide.
No "snake" pattern
when CFG turned to
other than 0.
The CFG switch provides diagnostic
functions and has no effect on GMC
operations. Turn to 0 and confirm
snakin

To e nsure prope r operation, push the board into the socket to the extent of its
travel. Make sure that the mounting screws on the outside of each board are
tightened.

Sometimes PC boards are jarred loose during travel, causing poor electrical
contact between the board and socket.

Problem Check Comments/Corrective Action
Monitor has AC power.
Power plug is plugged into
monitor and AC assembly.
Power on, LED on.
It is possible to plug the machine monitor or some other monitor directly
into the embedded PC board in the VME chassis, bypassing the VGA
cable in the machine.
If another machine or an office PC is available, try plugging the machine
monitor into it.
Fuse or circuit breaker OK.
VGA cable connected and
good.
+5 volt DC Power Output
from power supply.
If the monitor displays the BIOS screen (test size memory), the embedded
PC and monitor are probably OK, therefore, the software or drivers are at
fa ult.
If the monitor and cable check out, the embedded PC might be defective.
Check for +5 and +12 volts at
hard drive connectors.
Check wire cables for
breakage, wrong polarity,
poor connections.
Note: The drives and embedded PC are very similar to standard PC
compatible devices and use similar troubleshooting techniques.
Check board using IM
Diagnostics
IM Diagnostics bypasses the CPU-30, which usually supervises the
operators of the motion control board. Reference the electrical drawings.
Check encoder function
Using IM Diagnostics, cause the axis to move. (Use care to not run into
another assembly or into a limit switch.)
