4 System Requirements and Software Components
4.1 System Requirements for SIPLACE Traceability
The following hardware and software requirements must be fulfilled, before SIPLACE Traceability can
be installed.
Recommended hardware
▪ Processor with 3.2 GHz
▪ 2.5 GB RAM
▪ 100 GB hard drive capacity (only when using the traceability database)
Software
▪ Server environment - one of the following versions:
– Preferred: Windows Server 2008 R2 (64 Bit)
– Compatible: Windows Server 2003 SP2, Windows Server 2003 R2, Windows Server 2008 SP 2
(32 Bit), Windows Server 2008 SP 2 (64 Bit)
▪ Supported database:
– Preferred: MS SQL Server 2008 R2 (32 Bit)
– Compatible: MS SQL Server 2005 SP3 (32, 64 Bit), MS SQL Server 2008 SP1 (32, 64 Bit)
– For testing and training purposes only: MS SQL Server 2005 SP3 Express(32, 64 Bit), MS SQL
Server 2008 SP3 Express (32, 64 Bit)
– MS SQL Server 2008 R2 Express (32, 64 Bit)
▪ The software required for running traceability can be found on the Support Media DVD. This in-
cludes:
– Java 2 Java Runtime Environment 1.6
– SQL Server 2008 SP1 Express (for testing and training purposes only)
– Tomcat Web Server 5.5
– Microsoft.NET 3.5 SP1 Framework
– Microsoft Internet Explorer 7.0, 6.0 SP2
– Adobe Acrobat Reader 9.3
– License Manager 2.2 SP1
The following software is not supplied on the Support Media DVD and must be acquired separately, if
needed:
▪ MS Excel 2000/2003 (to visualize exported CSV files in Trace Monitor)
▪ MS SQL Server 2008 (standard edition)
▪ MS SQL Server 2008 R2 (standard edition)
▪ MS SQL Server 2005
NOTICE
Station based traceability
For machine-based traceability, the SIPLACE placement machines must be equipped with the
options "Setup verification" and "Traceability".

4.2 System Requirements for the SIPLACE Explorers Traceability
Option
The following requirements must be fulfilled for the installation of the traceability option in SIPLACE Ex-
plorer:
▪ Trace Monitor 3.3 web application
▪ SIPLACE Explorer V2.9
4.3 Software Components and Configuration
4.3.1 Software Components
The SIPLACE Traceability installation CD contains the following software components:
▪ SIPLACE Trace Service 3.3
▪ SIPLACE Trace Monitor 3.3
▪ Traceability Option 3.3 for SE 2.9
The following software components on the Support Media DVD must be installed on your computer be-
fore you can install SIPLACE Trace Monitor 3.3:
▪ Java 2 JRE 1.6
▪ Microsoft.NET 3.5 SP1 Framework
▪ Apache Tomcat 5.5
You do not need to install Tomcat 5.5 on the same computer as SIPLACE Trace Monitor 3.3.
▪ MS XML Parser Version 6.0
MS XML Parser Version 6.0 is also required for the Trace Monitor 3.3. Install MS XML Parser Version
6.0 on the same computer as Tomcat 5.5. You should also install Microsoft.NET 3.5 SP1 Framework
on this computer.
▪ Microsoft Internet Explorer 7.0, 6.0
SP2 Microsoft Internet Explorer 7.0 is needed for displaying SIPLACE Trace Monitor 3.3 and for in-
voking traceability data from the database. Install Microsoft Internet Explorer 7.0 on the same com-
puter as SIPLACE Traceability 3.3.
▪ Adobe Reader 9.3.
This component is needed for reading the SIPLACE Traceability 3.3 documentation.

4.3.2 Configuration
In order to establish the connection to the station computer, you need to install SIPLACE Trace Server
in the SIPLACE LAN. The installation options vary according to your network configuration and are as
follows:
1. SIPLACE Trace Service on one computer
This option requires that all SIPLACE Pro computers are available in the same LAN segment.
2. SIPLACE Trace Service on each line server
This option needs to be selected if the SIPLACE Pro computers are in different line-specific LAN seg-
ments.
The SIPLACE Trace Monitor setup is used to configure and generate the monitor web application on the
Apache Tomcat web server.
The Apache web server and the database server can be installed on any host. The following require-
ments need to be fulfilled:
1. Each Trace Service configured at the factory with the export option Database must be able to access
the central SQL server, on which the traceability database is installed.
2. The Apache web server and the SQL server are installed on computers in the same LAN segment.
The following components are required for the web and database server:
▪ Web server for the administration of Java servlets
The following components need to be installed on this computer:
– Apache Tomcat 5.5
– Java 2 JRE 1.6
– Microsoft.NET 3.5 SP1 Framework
– MS XML Parser 6.0
▪ Database server
– Preferred: Microsoft SQL server 2008 R2 (32 Bit)

SQL server 2008 R2
For a detailed description of the SQL Server 2008 R2 installation, refer to the SQL Server 2008
R2 Installation Manual (Item No.: 00196824-xx) which can be found on the Support Media DVD
