Fault Finding
WARNING
BOARD CLAMPS. EXTREME CARE MUST BE EXERCISED WHEN WORKING IN
THE TOOLING AREA OF THE MACHINE TO AVOID INJURY. THE FOILS ON THE
FRONT AND REAR BOARD CLAMPS ARE VERY SHARP.
WARNING
COMPRESSED AIR. COMPRESSED AIR SHOULD NEVER IMPINGE UPON THE
BODY. PORTS, PIPES, ETC MUST NEVER BE BLOCKED BY HAND. BEFORE
CONNECTING ANY PNEUMATIC EQUIPMENT TO A COMPRESSED AIR SUPPLY,
ALL MOUNTINGS, FITTINGS, PIPEWORK AND ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS
SHOULD BE REMOVED FOR SAFETY. NO PIPEWORK ALTERATIONS OR
REMOVAL OF FITTINGS SHOULD BE ATTEMPTED WITH AIR SUPPLIES
CONNECTED.
Symptom Possible Causes Possible Solutions
After periods of inactivity,
some pins not being raised in
one or more tooling modules
during initial setup.
Lack of lubrication of pin seals. Carry out Lubrication of Pin Seals later in this
section.
Board not being fully sup-
ported during printing causing
print process issues.
1. Excessive air in tooling module. 1. Carry out Module Air Check later in this
section.
No pins are raised in any tool-
ing module.
1. All ball valves on the manifold
assembly are incorrectly set.
1. Ensure all ball valves are in the open position.
2. Failure of machine air supply. 1. Check the air supply reading at the machine
filter regulator assembly.
2. Check the manifold pressure gauge - gauge
should read above 4 bar during FormFlex setup.
3. Air leak between machine interface,
operator interface and sequencer and
peripherals assembly.
1. Check the connections between the units,
ensuring no air leaks are present.
4. Faulty operator interface. 1. Disconnect the air supply pipe from the man-
ifold assy to No1 & 2 ball valves. Press the
operator switch, if no air is detected replace the
operator interface.
When FormFlex is reset,
some FormFlex pins in a mod-
ule remain raised.
1. Sticky FormFlex pins. 1. Push the pins down manually whilst activating
the reset switch. On completion, recycle the
system until all pins raise and lower smoothly.
2. Sticky fluid cut-off valve. 1. Carry out Resetting Valve Stem (Pins Up)
procedure later in this section.
3. Insufficient vacuum. 1. Check the manifold gauge during resetting,
should read -0.5 bar.
2. Check the connections between the units,
ensuring no air leaks present.
3. Check air supply to vacuum ejector on the
sequencer and peripherals assembly. If air
present, reject sequencer and peripherals
assembly.

All pins not being raised in one
tooling module.
1. Ball valve on manifold assembly
incorrectly set.
1. Ensure ball valve is in the open position.
2. Air leak between sequencer, mani-
fold and tooling module.
1. Check the connections between the units,
ensuring no air leaks present.
3. Supply pipe to tooling module incor-
rectly connected.
1. Check for correct pipe connections at the
sequencer, manifold and tooling module
2. Confirm pipe connections by disconnecting
the supply pipe to the tooling module at the
module. Press the operator switch, air should
escape from the pipe at the relevant point in the
setup sequence.
4. Sticky FormFlex pins. 1. If no fault found, carry out Resetting the Valve
Stem (Pins Down) procedure later in this section.
On completion, recycle the system until all pins
raise and lower smoothly.
2. If pins fail to rise, contact DEK Customer
Support.
Oil found leaking from tooling
module.
1. Contact DEK Customer Support.

WARNING
HARMFUL SUBSTANCES. CLEANING WIPES AND CLEANING SOLUTIONS MAY
CONTAIN SUBSTANCES HAZARDOUS TO HEALTH. OBSERVE ALL
MANUFACTURERS’ HEALTH AND SAFETY GUIDELINES. ALWAYS WEAR
APPROVED PROTECTIVE CLOTHING WHEN CLEANING THE MACHINE.
WARNING
BOARD CLAMPS. EXTREME CARE MUST BE EXERCISED WHEN WORKING IN
THE TOOLING AREA OF THE MACHINE TO AVOID INJURY. THE FOILS ON THE
FRONT AND REAR BOARD CLAMPS ARE VERY SHARP.
1. Gain access to the manual tooling plate.
2. Connect the tooling module to the No 1 output of the manifold assembly.
3. Press the operator switch on the front of the machine covers.
4. Insert the override pin into the central bore of the relevant tooling module
cut-off valve.
5. Apply pressure to release the cut-off valve stem. The FormFlex pins should
now begin to rise.
6. Remove the override pin from the cut-off valve.
7. Reset the FormFlex tooling.
8. Cycle the FormFlex tooling until all the pins rise during setup.
