5. Tighten the hex head screws to secure the slow down sensor bracket in
position.
6. Adjust the slow down needle valve clockwise until it is closed.
7. Adjust the drive motor flow control valve counterclockwise until it is
open.
8. Create a dummy rotary disk drive pattern, refer to the IM-UPS
Reference Manual. The pattern must include four index steps with 9.0
x 9.0 inch (2286,0 x 2286,0 mm) X and Y values, a bypassed insertion
step and a bypassed park step.
9. Load and activate the rotary disk drive pattern.
10. In the IM-UPS Machine Status window, select the following. Display
Status>Operation Status
The Operations Mode screen is displayed.
11. In the Head On box, deselect the Head 1 and Head 2 check boxes..
12. Push the START push button to zero the machine.
13. Push the START push button again to activate the rotary tables.
14. As the rotary table indexes, slowly turn the needle valve (NV1 or
NV1A) to achieve a condition in which the rotary disk stop block
firmly enters the lock assembly without causing a banging sound.
15. Push the STOP push button to stop the rotary table indexing.
16. Loosen the lock screw on the air flow control valve on the drive
assembly.
17. Adjust the air flow control valve fully clockwise and then two full turns
counterclockwise.
18. As the disk rotates, adjust the flow control valve so the disk movement
is quick but the stop blocks do not strike the lock assembly with
excessive force. The rotary disc should rotate ninety degrees in
approximately one second with both discs set at the same speed.
It may be necessary to adjust the pneumatic slow down needle valve to
achieve this adjustment.
19. Tighten the lock screw on the flow control valve to secure the valve in
position.
20. Push the STOP push button.
End of procedure.

Advanced Support Information
The following corrective maintenance procedures are intended for
Universal Instruments Corporation Field Service Engineers only.
Unauthorized implementation of these procedures may result in damage
to the machine and may adversely affect your warranty status if
performed by other than UIC personnel.
The advanced support information procedures are those identified on the
maintenance concept table as requiring a minimum skill level of UIC Field
Service Engineer. All such procedures may or may not be present in this
document at this time.
Rotary Table Assembly Disassembly/Assembly
1. Remove the 6 - 32 x 3/16 button head screws and washers securing the
tooling pin arms and remove the tooling pin arms.
2. If necessary, remove the 5 - 40 x 1/4 cap screws securing the tooling
pins and remove the tooling pins.
3. Remove the 6 - 32 x 3/8 button head screws securing the tooling pin
housings to the tooling plate and remove the tooling pin housings.
4. Remove the five 6 - 32 x 3/8 cap screws securing the tooling plate to
the shaft and remove the tooling plate.
5. Remove the four 10 - 32 x 7/8 cap screws securing the shaft assembly
to the rotary table.
6. Remove the retaining ring, collar clamp and shaft spacer from the ends
of the shaft.
7. Remove the bearings, bearing blocks and torsion springs from the
shaft.
8. Remove the two 10 - 32 x 1/4 button head screws that secure the front
board support/guide assembly to the mounting blocks and remove the
front board support/guide assembly.
9. Remove the seven 6 - 32 x 3/16 button head screws that connect the
front board guide and the front board support.
10. Remove the two 8 - 32 x 5/8 cap screws that mount the rear board
support/guide assembly, rear support blocks and tee nuts to the rotary
table.
11. Remove the four 6 - 32 x 1/4 cap screws that secure the rear board
support/guide assembly to the rear support blocks and remove the rear
support blocks.

12. Remove the seven 6 - 32 x 3/16 button head screws that connect the
rear board guide to the rear board support.
13. If necessary, remove the two 10 - 32 x 3/8 cap screws that secure the
blocks to the rotary table and remove the blocks.
14. If necessary, remove the three 1/4 - 20 x 1/2 and one 1/4 - 20 x 1/4 cap
screws and dowel pins securing the four stops to the rotary table and
remove the stops.
15. Inspect all parts for wear or damage and replace as necessary.
16. Press seven 3/4 inch long and one 3/8 inch long dowel pins into the
rotary table. The 3/8 dowel pin must be installed in the front left stop
position shown.
17. Install the three stops to the rotary table using the 1/4 - 20 x 1/2 cap
screws and shaft spacers. Install the fourth stop to the rotary table
using the 1/4 - 20 x 1/4 low head cap screw in the front left stop
position shown.
18. Press the two blocks into the rotary table in the position shown. Using
a straight edge, square the blocks and secure to the rotary table using
the two 10 - 32 x 3/8 cap screws.
19. Assemble the rear board support and the rear board guide using the
seven 6 - 32 x 3/16 button head screws .
When assembling the rear board support and the rear board guide,
determine the edge clearance required for your specific system
configuration. Move the board support fully forward for a 5mm edge
clearance or fully rearward for a 3mm edge clearance.
20. Assemble the rear board support/guide assembly to the two rear
support blocks using the four 6 - 32 x 1/4 cap screws.
21. Install the rear board support/guide assembly to the rotary table using
the two 8 - 32 x 5/8 cap screws and two tee nuts.
Position the rear board support/guide assembly out of the way for the
remainder of this assembly procedure. It will be located as required
when the preproduction set up procedures are performed.
22. Assemble the front board support and the front board guide using the
seven 6 - 32 x 3/16 button head screws .
